Hello DanBa,

I was thinking about a CyanogenMod for my Android 4.1 tablet which was unable to use UsbAudioRecorderPro.

I found the "CyanogenMod 10.1 for Ainol Novo 10 Hero" which is promising.

But I think maybe there's no need to do a full re-root, after all what I need is android's USB DAC capabilities.

Can I just use root permissions to replace the kernel modules and config files and startup scripts relating to USB DAC functionality, and get things done without a CyanogenMod?

Or can I modify CyanogenMod's content, i.e. replace its kernel modules and config files and startup scripts relating to USB DAC functionality, then do the re-root job?

Mytek Stereo192-DSD DAC.  I do not recall whether it was the 1.1 or 2.0 input. This was during a product demo, and i hijacked the demo a bit to see if it would work with my phone so I could report to this thread.

Do you contact the USB Audio Recorder PRO guys?

If your USB DAC is not listed on their NOT working audio devices list,

USB host is more likely not enabled on your tablet, because

your tablet doesn't have a USB host controller chip

or

the USB host driver is not included in the kernel of your tablet.

Usually, only manufacturer developers can develop USB host driver, because the USB host driver have to drive a specific USB host hardware controller.

I got the sunrise audio Ray DA-P1 in today and confirmed it works with android. Its a nice little DAC actually with a great accessory kit!

I'm using Ainol's Hero 10" tablet, its little brother the 7" one is on the NOT working list, I also tried USBAudioRecorderPRO with no luck.

Though I've downloaded CyanogenMod 10.1 for my tablet, but the question is, can I fix this issue by a new CyanogenMod?

Since all I need is the functionality of USB DAC,

I am trying to find exactly which files are relating to USB DAC, then I shall try a root modification.

Do you have any sugestion?

Just wanted to briefly note that my Meier PCSTEP has arrived as promised, and that I can confirm the earlier post of compatibility with the S3. It also works with the Droid DNA. I'll get more comprehensive thoughts together within the next week or so, but my initial impressions have been not just good, but very good... I got this on the same day my Apex Glacier came in, and although it's way too early to make any definitive statements about sound quality, I think it's fair at this point to say that at the very least the PCSTEP acquits itself exceedingly well-- to the point that I've been reading up on the Corda Classic amp during my lunch break and before I go into work. (Blast you, Head-Fi!!!)

For those who have the amps for review, perhaps whomever is ready to post their thoughts first should create a thread and then post back here so we can compile our thoughts in a single thread (and attempt not to derail this thread further than we already have :P).

I'd be interested in seeing a comparison to the Apex Glacier. I've got the Glacier but bypassed the PCStep and got the Quickstep.

Adding to Theogenes post.. I have a US Galaxy S3 (Verizon/JB 4.1.2/stock TouchWiz ROM)..  the PCSTEP works perfectly with it via OTG (and sounds terrific, btw).

I think it's important to mention if you have a US or international version of said phone as some brands/models have differing chipsets & capabilities (i.e. the CPU in the int'l S3 vs the US' S3).  I'm not sure what kind of impact this has on USB Audio functionality.. but I noticed some international user(s) were able to get their ODAC to work with the (int'l) S3.. I couldn't get the ODAC to work via OTG with my US-based S3 (it does work with a powered hub & OTG, though).
