"Accessory Charger Adapter (ACA)

As Portable Devices (PD) get smaller, it becomes more desirable for the PD to only have one external connector. If the only connector a device has is a USB connector, then a problem arises when the user wants to attach the device to a charger at the same time as it is already attached to something else.

Consider a PD that has a single connector, which can also acts as a handheld PC. When such a device is put into an ACA-Dock, it would act as a host to various USB peripherals, such as a DAC, hub, keyboard, mouse, etc. However, while in the ACA-Dock, the device should also able to charge at the same time.

To inform the PD that it should act as host and draw current, the ACA is required to pull the ID pin to ground through a resistance of RID_A (124k)."

That's very good news, don't see any reason why the S2 Jelly Bean update wouldn't do the same thing.

Can't wait for my update, Jelly Bean users enjoy!

An Android 4.1 Jelly Bean device can have:
. a standard USB audio out capability (or USB audio host capability), or/and
. an Android-specific USB audio out capability (or USB audio accessory capability).

Android-specific USB DAC announced at the launch of Jelly Bean can’t operate with a PC or a Mac.

A prototype of an Android-specific USB DAC / amp, FiiO E18, will be shown next week.

Any word yet of S3 Jelly Bean update? Wondering if this will have standard USB or Android-specific USB

The Jelly Bean-powered S3 should keep having standard USB audio due to upward compatibility practices.

Android-specific USB audio should be another story: it doesn’t exist at the S3 launch time.

Correct, the Samsung USB audio drivers are still there and unchanged in Jelly Bean.

Does this mean that all dacs including the e17 will work on a jb running s3?

As the USB descriptors of the E17 are not quite compliant with the USB standard, Samsung should provide a modified and more tolerant USB driver.

It can happen to each new S3 Android version release.

So of all the portable dacs you've tested its only the e17 that hasn't worked with the s3 right?
Damn, and that's the one I wanted lol.

...I just ordered an E17 last night. Should I be canceling that order and wait to hear about the E18?

I just saw this: http://www.venturecraft.jp/gadget_en/index.php

The VentureCraft Go-DAP X is now shipping and due to the delay of the shipping date pushed back, for a few early orders VentureCraft is including a cable set with the X. Looking into the cable set there's the micro USB <-> micro USB LOD there for the Samsung Galaxy S3.

What is the retail on one of those again?  I really want one but I would have to get the phone and the Go-DAP-X meaning it would be a huge chunk out of wallet.  Life is hard triportsad.gif.

It didn't state that they going to release the e18 on the day so i think it might worth to hold the order see if it going to release real soon or have to wait more and wait even longer for it to hit retailers.

Last time i checked it roughly $500usd damn crazy price for some thing that need to use rubber band to hold it with your phone.(no dedicated hosting and stuff but optical out put might worth it tho)
