Since the S2 supports MHL, is it possible to get an MHL cable and then somehow get the audio from the MHL adapter to a DAC?
. But great list for those who can use it.
Danba, thanks for maintaining these lists. I did test the HRT Headstreamer on my friend's AT&T Note 2 and it worked without a hitch.
Not sure I believe them but the response I got from Fiio Customer Servics regarding me using an HTC One X+ with an E7:
"Our E7 or E07K can support it but need a USB OTG cable"
I'm not 100% on what the configuration of that OTB cable would be? It'll be a while before I get the chance to test this out as I'm getting the E7 for xmas. I'd love to know if anyone else has had success with this or similar set up though.
Which DAC is a good fit for my needs? I'm not asking for "the best one" because that's subjective of course.
1) Galaxy S3 to USB-OTG to DAC to Car Stereo via 3.5mm input.
2) Prefer to have GS3 power the DAC if possible (I bought a three way USB-OTG cable).
3) Needs to be small and under $60 USD new or used, for my budget.
This won't be used anywhere other than in my car stereo, so it'll get permanently mounted (so to speak).
Thanks for any suggestions! Sorry, I'm new to the DAC world.
Audio GD Sparrow version A (USB output TE7022 ) CONFIRMED to work when using a 4-Port Targus USB 2.0 unpowered HUB, at last! ![]()
Previous symptoms before connecting the hub: Faster playback on any player and of course no sound.
My setup is the following: I9300 running 4.2.1 Jelly Bean Leak + Siyah 1.6.8 Kernel (the best for overall sound WITHOUT a USB DAC)> Amazon Generic USB OTG cable > 4 Port 2.0 Targus HUB > Audio GD Sparrow Version A USB > HD650
Targus HUB is around $11 at your local Walmart, and it is fairly small and cheap. If find anything else around cheaper or smaller I will try that instead.

Check out the UD100 from Stoner Acoustic. $52 based on a well regarded Sabre DAC chip. I am pretty sure I saw a post about someone using it with the S3. It is super small. There is a thread on Headfi about it and some other alternatives.

Actually I take that back. It also works without the hub, but it takes several connect and disconnects with or without the hub. Should be an easy fix for a skilled kernel developer.
Amazon Generic USB OTG cable > 4 Port 2.0 Targus HUB
@jblparisi (or anyone)
What is the URL for that Amazon USB OTG cable?
And, Amazon sells several Targus hubs...
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=targus+usb+hub
did you mean the ACH74US model or?
@danba (or anyone)
Which of those USB OTG compatible DACs will rival the DX100?
Just got off phone to HTC & they can't vouch for compatibility of all devices but they did say the HTC One X will accept usb OTG for audio out (still sceptical but for the cost of a cable I'll have a dabble)!
