What are you looking for? The ZX700 is a little rolled off in the bass and treble regions and provides a more mid-centric sound. The HTF600 is more v-shaped, with powerful bass and prominent treble, and the K81 (assuming it's similar to the K518) is bass-heavy with smooth treble but poorer clarity compared to these others.

I'm currently pretty locked on the ZX700 since I found a good deal and from reviews it appears the sound is for me, treble that isn't harsh, detailed mid range and good bass. It's just that I recently got to listen to the K518 for a while and wanted to hear your comparsion of them so I could get a better idea of how the ZX700 will sound like. I found that the K518 excelled in bass, it went deep and was detailed to my ears, that worked very well with some recordings and just pretty good with other recordings

You're not going to get the bass depth or slam of the K518 from the ZX700 but the detail (except for the subbass bit) is pretty good with the Sonys. If you want more deep bass something like the ATH-M50 or even the CAL! might be a better choice

I can live with the bass of the Sony being less good than the one of the K518, the bass is pretty important but the midrange is more important to me

So, I was planning on getting the VC02 IEMs, but now that I know that there are really cheap options for portable headphones that I could actually carry around (seeing as IEMs are really painful to the ears), I might get the monoprice 8323s. Would it be a good idea to get those, instead? While I know the 2 have completely different sounds (the 8323s being very very dark), I think that would work at well as a complement to the bright Q701s I'm getting.
 
EDIT: How about I just ask what I should I get... I want a very portable headphone that is durable, and has a fun but laid back sound, somewhere in the under $60 price range, and isolates a ton. I listen to electronic and orchestral music while out and about. Thank you.

The AKG k81 sounds like a good option, it's really good with electronic but not so much with orschestral music, it's kinda dark too.

I think I'm actually going to buy the HA-S500s.  Just because it says "Carbon Nanotubes" on the box.

I'm torn between DT 1350 and M80 from V-Moda. The street price of DT 1350 is currently $199 (100 bucks below the suggested). M80 on the other hand is only $130. This is Amazon's price btw. My question is do you think the difference in price is worth it for me to go straight with Beyer rather than M80? Would you say 1350 is convincingly more referenced-sounding than M-80? If not, then I might go with M80 first, then (very) later on 1350. If yes, then I'd rather save more and wait more, to get DT 1350. Although I heard that the units from Beyer DT1350 can sound very different from each other. Any thoughts on that? 
 
I can afford an amp too if needed, but is DT 1350 good sounding enough if I plug them straight into my iPod? Or does it lose some edge over M80 if to be used w/o an amp?
 
If it helps, my best sounding portable cans right now are ATH-M50 and ESW9.
