Thanks David for this informative, extremely well-organized piece, and sometimes even entertaining piece.

It really is people like you, people who are knowledgeable, articulate, and passionate about the hobby, that makes life so much easier for the rest of us novices.

Can't wait until you expand the list, but I am thinking that you have already done so much, I don't even want to trouble you and ask for specific reviews, I will just wait for your additions as they come.

We all do :D

Dear god, got the K702 65th Annies.

Let me just say these are the most impressive headphones I have ever owned, outside of the D7000. More impressive than the HE-400, HD650, and AKGs own Q701/K701 (which the Annies seriously just made obsolete).

They NEED to be reviewed.

That's awesome! How do you feel they distinguish themselves?  Are the drivers the same?

Would be great if you can add L3000 and UM Miracle in :)

I really do want to add these.

I will note that I ordered a small headband for my Qualia in hopes that it will drastically improve the sound, in which case I will be entirely revamping my review.

It's been mentioned by AKG that each Anniversary had the drivers retuned, and the new pads are memory foam, as well as not being truly angled. It has a warmer, fuller sound next to the Q701 and MUCH more than the sterile, dry K701 (I had the old 7 bump version).

I hated the K701, liked the Q701 a lot but was missing a bit bottom end and fullness. The K702 Annies is pretty much what I consider borderline PERFECT.

The $400 range has been dealt a huge blow.

Now, that being said, the limited release (apparently only 3000 sold?) and the fact most people won't justify spending $200 more than what they paid for the Q701/standard K702, will make these sleeper hits.

I beg people to try these. They will be surprised.

I'm inclined to think that the headband alone is worth the $200 difference...so that's why they didn't fix it with the Q701, well played AKG.

All I can say is WOW after reading all your hard work and dedication to compiling your comparison!  It has helped me to make a purchase of some new cans.  Patiently waiting for my HD 600 to arrive.

Wow the anniversary edition is actually really different?

It is a cross between the Q701 and HD650 in sound signature. Like an HD650 with much more air and sense of space, not reserved and slow.

Whether it's mostly the pads, time will tell. However the headband and softer pads are worth it. Seriously.

I will try and multi quote all responses soon enough.
