So amazon had a Used Like new warhouse set of 55x headphones for $19 prime shipped so I bit. Should be here Wednesday. Since I wont get the SZ2K's until June 2, is there anyway to tell pads from SZ2k and 55x? Want to make sure the pads on the 55x is stock OEM 55x pads and not something that was bought, switched out and then sent back.

The look totally different. i will try to find pics. You can check the SZ thread pic gallery. The 55x have red cloth inside and the SZ stock are black/brown i think?

The brainwavz ear pads arrived before the SZ2000. I notice that it doesn't come with any kind of stickers or glue. Is there a guide on how I should remove the ear pads from the SZ2000 so as not to damage it (e.g. can I just remove it with pure violence) and how should I stick the new ear pads to it? Thanks.

You must have noticed how there is a flap on the backside which you pull around the headphones?

it becomes obvious if you pull off a single earpad...

e: okay HBB posted a much more friendly and helpful example

Thanks both for teaching me how to change the ear pads.

For gaming purpose, not sure whether my Asus Xonar U7 will do it justice after EQ. If not, I may try EQ-ing it with Xonar and then using a portable amp. Not sure if I want to move my desktop amp (Cavalli Liquid Fire) to the already crowded computer desk.

Getting my best TH-X00 modded by PETEREK to make the cable detachable, shortening the stock cable, and adding a custom cable for bling purposes.

As I recently posted, doing this is what led to my SZ2000s currently being in the for sale forum. Walking around with these, while not isolating, is pure pleasure.
