Using onboard atm and have looked into a few soundcards. Not sure whether to go with that or an amp.

 
 
If this is your main use is PC, might want to look at the Schiit Magni.  A used one can be had for around $50.  To my knowledge build in DAC in Motherboards are ok now a days.  So you probably don't need a sound card or Dac.
 
I still suggest at least the e18.  With the e18 I had to have it on high gain and bass boost on.

A couple of post back I suggested some things to the other member.  Same goes for you.  New phone and Cayin c5 amp and your golden.  Android phone with viper4android eq app is golden for streaming music

Thanks for the response mate. So what phone would you recommend? Or based on a phones specs how can I know? Is it a hardware thing or a software thing like the eq you mentioned? Compared to that video review how similar would the bass go with that amp and new device? Also I'm really curious to know what Jet Effects is aha. Excuse my questions and Thank you

I remember exchanging vids/mails and impressions with cb3723. It was all about the bass. It never dawned on either of us that this thread would become a beast...a legend on the net.
 
We got a comment once from a guy who had been on the site since it was formed...man it was like a 10+ year O.G. member who had never commented ever. Guy comes in a says "Finally a place where I can just see for myself as much as can be done on the net without any ********" He still views but doesn't comment.

Just wanted it to be clear that it's who she is that makes me want to do anything for her, rather than fear, or worrying about being "cut off"...  (Already enough negative stereotypes about married life out there.)  Not once have I ever been afraid of my wife.  Hopefully, she can say the same.  Afraid of disappointing her because she's awesome, and I love her? Sure.  Because I'm afraid of what she might do?  Never.  (Plus, she supports my hobbies, and hers aren't lame.  ...Aside for her interest in Broadway plays.  That I DO NOT share.  But fair is fair.  I just keep quiet and make sure I never speak my "full" true mind about them to her.)

Remember:  eBay is your friend.  Start searching for store return/leftover JVC HA-M55 or M55X headphones now.  Swap those puppies (pads) onto your SZ-2000s the moment you take them out of the box!  (You'll be glad you did!)
 
If you absolutely cant find any decent deals for the M55s, then the Brainwavz pads that HBB and the others talk about will at least make them tolerably comfortable.  Not slam as hard as they should, but at least the Brainwavz won't punish you for wearing them.
 
Look up HBB's helpful notes about EQ, reduce your values and raise what you want, don't just lift them like a lot of people do.
 
Amp those puppies and Bass-boost them into oblivion!  Can't wait to hear your impressions.  BTW, one of the few components I've ever owned that clearly need NO BURN-IN!  They sound awesome from day-1!

ha, thanks! i'm a photographer so really what i do when i edit my photos is squish pixels together. plus i have a cat named pixel - and he gets squished sometimes also.
 
i have a pair of the brainwavz  pads here already. gonna amp the JVC's through my soloist SL and give them a whirl! the Soloist SL is a beast of an amp so it will do them justice!

Sounds like your all set. The ball joint on the part where the heavy cups attach to the headband can be broken if squished...just be aware.

that depends on what headphones you plan on getting.  Quantity of the bass will be a lot more with a bass amp and eq.
 
With the phone, its a hardware thing.  Most phones now a days use the built in DAC from snapdragon (not as good), while the Note5, iphone 6s, and v10 use a seperate DAC chip.  I don't know where your at so I can't recommend a specific phone, but any of those three are great.  If you can wait, LG is coming out with the g5 which is supposedly the ****.

Cowon's branded DSP. You can get it on Cowon players, and they also have a playback app called JetAudio.

Remembered this place was hated and you where a dick .  But it was that cut-throat attitude and the hate from other people that made this place what it is.
