I want someone here with more money than I to promise that the new Audeze EL-8 closed will be put the to ultimate of bass tests. Maybe it can be what the Sony Z7 was trying to be in the upper-mid-fi category?
biggrin.gif

I'm planning on it as soon as I get details about sound and amp requirements.

Pair of JVC 2k's going for $213 shipped on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/JVC-Victor-HA-SZ2000-Live-Beat-Headphones-Premium-Model-from-Japan-New-/331434715249?pt=US_Headphones&hash=item4d2b0c6871
and around $225 shipped on Amazon.

I know it's been mentioned before, but has a difference been found in the livebeat/'normal' version?

Also, here's a set that for some reason wasn't turning up in my normal searches - $218 shipped w/fairly quick shipping it seems. http://www.ebay.com/itm/JVC-Victor-HA-SZ2000-Live-Beat-Headphones-Premium-Model-From-Japan-New/321633506105?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131003132420%26meid%3Db74205382f36471a9c8fee58c6fe15d1%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D20131003132420%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D331434715249&rt=nc

Finally NAILED the X5 eq.

Wicked pounding hit with distortion being inaudible. (first time ever)
That paper is just ******* blowing in the wind. That is "getting some air".

Full screen
go to :10 that's the paper in stop...moment of no audible audio in track. Watch the air. That DAP is pretty damn good. I am convinced after going through that thread nobody who owns t knows how to use it for bass

Hey hbb im looking for a headphone to complement my sz2000 e12 combo which headphone would u recommend first between the yamaha pro 500 and the v moda m100 when it comes to best bass impact.

Damn

V moda is darker and hits hard

Pro 500 hits harder than moda by a bit but like my Dap the highs must be dropped at the same time you raise the bass. Yammy have fit issues. V Moda with XL pads

Your question was bass impact so i'll say Yammy pro 500 with caveat being highs need a drop ( they are great clarity highs btw...very musical) and fit has been issue with some.

Sacrifice a bit of bass and the Moda with XL pads

I would take the Yammy and the eq challenge if it were me.
Advising others is different so...

JVC HA-SZ1000 (can't swing for the 2000s) or V-Moda LP2? They will be plugged into a dac/amp.

Basically I bought some V-moda m80s and they're quite small on me so I'm likely returning them. So if anyone is familiar with the LP/2 line and knows if they're just as small.. let me know?

I posted this in intro but I think this thread would know better since LP2 are considered basshead cans

lp2 are over ear 50 mm driver an xs 80 are 40 on ear. That makes a big difference when it comes to bass I had the the LP(50mm as well) an they were great for bass. The lp2 is a upgrade in bass from those.

Oh I know the LP2 are a big upgrade. My question was more about the fit. The headband on the m80 simply doesn't extend enough and I don't know if it would be the same with LP2 since they're also made by v-moda

This will possibly be an unpopular suggestion, but I was feeling the same way as you last year. (I had the money on-hand for the SZ-1000s, but not the SZ-2000s back in October). I was REALLY tempted to buy the SZ-1000s, but I realized something. I'm going to be listening to these headphones for YEARS! Rather than get something that I already know I could do better than, (Well, from what I've heard at least.) I decided to wait a few months until I had the extra $100 free and clear to get the ones I really wanted. Consequently, I am just now getting my precious pair of SZ-2000s shipped this week. 3 months zip by faster than you think, so set aside just $10 a week if you can, and you will have the benefit of getting the headphones you've already stated that you REALLY wanted.

I don't want the 2000s that much and I don't see myself ever dropping 250 on a pair, especially that I have to import.. Besides, the 1000 are apparently less veiled so there's that. I don't want to be super limited as to what I can listen to with headphones.

I searched around this forum and it does sound like the LP2 is much bigger with size options, so it comes down between that and the sz1000. Non replaceable cable on JVC is kinda a negative

Unpopular?

Shiiiiiiit.
That's the way. I respect folks who grind. You gotta put in work.

Let me tell you something bru.

I got the X5 because there is no other bass headphone on the SZ level so i upped my source and the SZ scale very well. I made a few purchases and failed to get here on the first shot .... but it is an endless search for many so I am lucky.

You should heed the words of folks before you. Save again for some pads.

HBB,

Words heeded.  The Brainwavz thick pads are already here!  Now I just need the headphones to arrive.
