The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

Cool, SONY's press centre finally releases photos of their new Z7 headphone - looks pretty nice IMO - closed back with aluminium coated 70mm drivers

Download-File

This post shows driver details off: http://www.head-fi.org/t/728006/sonys-new-flagship-2014/315#post_10851128

But reading posts by HifiGuy528 - the Z7 isn't the flagship - the king apparently is coming
basshead.gif

These Z7 have serious potential to be something along the lines of TH900 material - or potentially better - closed back design with 70mm drivers - imagine how immense the TH900 would be if it sported 70mm's instead of its current 50's

cool.gif

This could be SONY's most Epic move, though I've a feeling the mystery "king" that's upcoming but shrouded in mystery could very well be a top end open back audiophile type headphone - but I'm just guessing on that front.

Apparently the Z7 will sell for approx €599 / $787 / £478

I say HBB goes all ninja stylee
ph34r.gif
and gets to one of his local headphone emporiums with his rig as soon as the Z7 hits the market and does a bass/paper test in store on a live link to this thread as a world exclusive, as I think Japan get new stuff like this first
cool.gif

He'll probs have to take along a couple of his mates
ph34r.gif
ph34r.gif
to fight off security trying to stop him, but it would be all in the name of the Extreme Bass Club

"Feel the Air"

"Soul Shaking Clarity"

Bass?

Just had a look at these and it appears that they are focused more towards audiophiles. Authentic engaging sound and absolute sound purity doesn't sound like basshead headphones.

A 70mm driver is pretty impressive though

Folks are skipping over this in the thread for these but if they are audiophiles they should maybe holdup.

This (The Z7) may well be a basshead can...I really wanna know the max input.
Sony.jp /e-earphone, /Fujiya Avic are not even mentioning these yet.

There is a Fall Headphone meet in Tokyo where they may debut these.
Japanese get 2 annual bonuses and one comes around December/January and a lot of stuff goes on in the big ticket realm as folks can sign away or make down payments on large items from headphones to Hummers. Nomax is probably Japanese and an audiophile. These are not the big gun for that community
I do know this guy should be talking about it or another few regular Japan personal audio otaku's.
Very low noise considering they are taking pre orders for a release date I'm not sure of?
If I can get my fingers on some this Sunday I will or ASAP but this is a bit odd.

For the record....click that link and e-earphone is stuffed with Beats vids and they love the stuff for "fun" and the hate in America or other places is simply not shared. As individuals maybe but a money maker is a money maker and that's what it's all about. It's an item to be consumed and we are consumers. They don't put much thought to who the f___ does Dre think he is? or stuff like that.

If these are around 5man and rated to at least 1,500 - 1,800 input I'm jumping in with both feet :D

Dude check my post here as I think it's what you're looking for regards Z7 maximum input http://www.head-fi.org/t/716711/the-best-bass-headphones-are-the-extreme-bass-club/2145#post_10851282 (2000mW).

And yeah - what a breath of fresh air the Japanese have regarding beats and different audio brands in general - zero H8 - what a perfect ST8 of mind to find  :beerchug: a lesson for us all from the land of the rising sun .

As for the Z7's.....I hear thunder on the horizon......

But - like everything - the proof of the pudding is in the eating

But also, these new breeds from SONY sure have caused a ruckus and seem to have peeps in a Hypnotic ST8 by their promise...(70mm is enough to make any basshead go weak at the knees for sure :D)

I know I'd love SONY to take it higher & higher to the next level...

Think of this as a SONY Z7 parody - the DJ is a SONY executive launching the Z7 to a room packed full of hyperbole hungry Head-Fiers with their mouths open to be fed...full on masked hysteria! :D

Let's hope the Z7 lives up to the Hype - is this the SONY comeback to full form?

I hope so for sure :)

DJ Juliao warms up the crowd first - anybody know what headphones he's using?

Altern-8 dude, Mark Archer, uses Sennheiser HD25's...

I'm gonna try these out at the first possible opportunity. I think the release might be awhile though. Just in time for Christmas I imagine and I have been a good boy this year so ...I deserve it.

with the z7 it goes from 4-100khz and that to me is rediculous I have never seen a headphone boast that spec there and with the 70mm and they look of a fostex headphone this could very well be a basshead headphone. also check out the xb950's also guys looks amazing also however it has 40mm drivers but sony's 40mm bass drivers to deliver the bass just ask the xb500's which is a serious basshead headphone only thing missing was the power handling and I believe this over ear xb950 has fixed that.

It's looking good my friend, looking very good - let's hope SONY really...

...instead of the ball
...*but 70mm aluminium coated drivers - holy schiit!* :basshead:

*edit: they kinda look like FOSTEX TH600's
only with 20mm more driver size to play with *

This may be a little premature....but what the heck...

82-84,000 of those frequencies are going to be 100% unavailable to your ear/mind. So 18-16,000 O.K. but 84,000 No. That's what % of the sales point (frequency response) being un-realistic?
I worry a little because of that kinda stuff

SONY is absolutely hemorrhaging money at a staggering record chasing rate. They NEED THIS to work. The Hi Res. I can take a vid of where that Walkman sits in EDION compared to the ipod. It's not working so far outside of the audiophile world. The average dude is not latching on to this Hi Res angle yet. Sony is in big big trouble and needs to appeal to Beats people....therein lies my hope. Not in wild claims but in stuff like "Feel the Air".

 August 18 2014

Sony Corp., which has posted losses in five of the past six years, was rejected in the first reshuffle of Japan’s profit-oriented stock index while Panasonic Corp. made the cut.

The government-backed JPX-Nikkei Index 400 added 30 other companies, including Mazda Motor Corp., Daiwa Securities Group Inc., Seiko Epson Corp. and Aiful Corp., according to the gauge’s compilers.

Capcom Co. and Skymark Airlines Inc. are also among those being tossed out when the changes take effect Aug. 29.

Inclusion in the measure matters because investors, including the ¥126.6 trillion Government Pension Investment Fund, use it as a benchmark.

I wanna believe!!

WOW! 51mm drivers pushing some serious bass there, especially considering they cost only 31$ in the USA.

Tell me about it!....Wait a minute - you did - lol :D. - thanx 4 giving me the heads up on these cans & good call - they're a heap of fun and as can be seen by the video - punch way above their weight .

I wonder how difference much that +1mm added to the 50mm actually makes compared to if it had been a 50mm driver only? LoL :D

I've so much respect for this brand now, to deliver such quality at such low cost is an absolute miracle and put Superlux not just as a brand for all the people for their low cost of ownership giving huge return value, but also outside of costs, this headphone is a superb sounding basshead and DJ headphone by its own merits.

So much win - where do you begin? :beerchug:

Wonder how this video looks like on HBB's huge 27inch monitor?

Another top basshead can to join the extreme bass club for sure - but it's getting harder and harder to place them as more genuine quality hard hitting basshead headphones are head hunted and brought into light

Nonetheless, the hunt for undiscovered extreme bass headphones continues.....

Extreme Bass - The Final Frontier...:D

Coming soon - HBB's Z7 instore bass/paper test with him brawling with security on YouTube video that goes viral and Head-Fi servers collapse as 50million viewers descend on the Extreme Bass Club thread...:dt880smile:

Just sayin.....could happen

Somebody correct me If I'm wrong - but I think the Razer Krakens are open. They pump some decent bass. Sadly you aren't going to find anything thunderous without closed-back. Wish I could help you more.

They are semi-open. This thread May help you http://www.head-fi.org/t/678052/open-back-headphones-with-bass
s5300

Like WildeWinds said, you're not going to get the most explosive in an open back. I've seen some semi-open with some pretty good bass though
