The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

Intresting looking cans.

The Kraken may be 40mm but they've handled anything I've thrown at them. The drivers are pretty powerful

@cb3723

Close one. Having a hard time calling it. I would have to say it's a draw. Maybe we should have a 2nd round using a different track

Sounds good - lets hear what HBB thinks and maybe he can call it or pick a new track if he calls it a draw?

Be good to hear how others see/call it too

To me the Kraken looks to hit a bit harder on a few of the higher cycles, but the v-moda hit harder on a few of the lower cycles - its a tough one for sure, but for 40mm drivers - the Krakens hit way above their weight

But I think another track fight out is a good idea as it's so close on the current track (IMO)

ps - love the football gifs - they're a good reflection of the battle for sure

  Just a friendly reminder..

The dude testing the Kraken....That..THAT is what this thread is all about. There will be no changes to a system that already has 50?  more? videos of 30? more? headphones doing the same thing under the same or otherwise clearly stated conditions.

If you wanna do something different good luck with your new thread. knock yourself out. God bless ya...all that stuff.  If I can be of any help let me know.

@NewWaveAudio

If everybody could remember their headphones were objects...plastic,wood,metals and in no way reflected their character we'd have more awesomeness like yours.
These are toys. Quality of life enhancers. There is a thread where folks are discussing the stigma of wearing Beats...stigma........stigma

Headphones....we are talking about headbands with speakers

Social stigma is the extreme disapproval of (or discontent with) a person or group on socially characteristic grounds that are perceived, and serve to distinguish them, from other members of a society. Stigma may then be affixed to such a person, by the greater society, who differs from their cultural norms.

I read that and other threads and realized I don't take this nearly as seriously as others. I thought I did but ...no...no way.
I just happened to have OCD and NEEDED a list of bass headphones instead of 30 different folks rec'ing  almost as many different opinions with their favorite of course being the best. It's the best because it's their favorite or it's their favorite cuz it's the best? Who gives a crap and it's both opinions any ******** way.

NewWave gets it. He wants to win....but he's not ripping into anybody else or talking down another set of cans or paranoid that some cabal has gathered to keep him down.

Next time you wanna bitch and moan about what's wrong with Head-fi go look in the mirror.
I made the 1st bass Wiki on this site and started the best bass headphone thread this site or any on the net has ever seen thanks to folks like cb (a LOT of thanks goes there...it's kinda his thread) and members like Newwave audio.

Mission Debrief...

"Well done gentlemen, you carried out your mission well....however...the Kraken Pro was not taken down as planned...
you see, analysis has shown that the KP not only inched it on the 3 types of bass track, but after you dropped your bass payload, the Kraken dusted itself off and started showboating with a new track...which was mighty impressive for any bass can, never mind a 40mm driver bass headphone"

"But sir, our clamping is too strong to allow those bass wobbles the Kraken pulls off, if we can reduce the clamping, we can take him down, I know it.."

"Son...son, even if we did reduce clamping, our analysts forecast that we'd likely match but not necessarily beat the Kraken, but just think about this...
...we put up a can approx 4x the cost and 10mm driver size bigger against the 40mm Kraken and it out bassed us, regardless of any clamping issues.
The Kraken Pro, has IMO, proved itself as a true blue top 10 cannon - and a worthy one at that, not to mention it's trainer, NewWaveAudio a
shining example to all of how taking a little time to put up and shut up a bass/paper test video can make such a difference and prove to the world your
headphones capabilities - big thanks to NewWaveAudio for sure.

The bass/paper test is genius in its simplicity yet effective in dispelling
myths as a true visual demonstration of a headphones actual bass impact.
This is not rocket science here gentlemen, nor controversial,
but it is revolutionary and exclusive to The Extreme Bass Club
Courtesy of the creator of the bass/paper test & thread starter - Hawaiibadboy

You see gentlemen, here at Extreme Bass Club, the size of our manhoods are not determined by the performance of our individual bass cans. The tests are to
give a visual display on the bass impact (SPL) on respective extreme basshead headcans of what it can achieve by how it reacts with paper, and is for the sole purpose of creating the most accurate and relevant chart of extreme bass hitting cans on the globe, (having fun with it all is a welcomed side effect ) for the benefit of all that visit here at this thread, here at Head-Fi, and that can only be achieved by using the bass/paper tests objectively, and in this case, the Kraken Pro shows the winner..

This isn't official yet until the general who started all this schiit gets his ass out of bed and takes in the video evidence himself, but I've a good idea he will
be in full agreement on this."

"sir, can I get a cookie or something?"

"*sigh* yes son, go get yourself a cookie.....but a new Cookie Monster looks like it's about to enter the Holy Grail of top ten bass cannons - the 40mm Kraken Pro is about to be deservedly released into it....(unless General HBB orders another godforsaken mission against that beast, though I hope not cos this schiit is done, time to open the top 10 gates for the Kraken Pro methinks")

I have only recently come to the realization that I am a basshead at heart. I look over my collection and it is pretty well canted in the direction of solid low frequency reproduction.... (all you have to do is look at the collection in my sig or profile)

My dilemma...

Everything I own is IEM - I have thousands invested in TOTL CIEMs and IEMs.... I have absolutely ZERO full size headphones. Let me tell you why... I love the slam that I get from a high end BA or DD or Hybrid Inner Ear Monitor...

I know dick about full sized cans... But I find myself at my computer for 75% of the time I listen to music through headphones and I think it is maybe time to branch out. What I do know is I need them to be closed back - I cannot crank up a set of open cans at home - for one, it would be a distraction to others in the household. It also might be disconcerting to my children who have a different picture of Dad - he isn't one who would be blasting "Bodies" by the Sex Pistols or any of a number of Iggy Pop tunes... (Raw Power & **** In My Pocket are favorites)

But seriously, I would like to find a full size set with bass that rivals the impact and speed of my 1plus2's and JH16's - I figure I would also need a nice amp to drive them - any amp should be able to have a gain setting that allows for my IEM collection .....

$1000 - $1500 for the both could be had with a little shifting of priorities (and maybe a sale of an IEM or two)

I love the immediacy and impact of my IEMs - is that available in a full size closed back can?

I've really been enjoying the SZ1000's for bassy music and a really intimate sound stage. These things are insane! Check out this vid one of these awesome guys made earlier for the thread:
