Some of the manufactures may not be aware of how we use their products in real life. At least one has gone so far as to say they were not designed to be worn in front.

X2 on this. I can't stand the feel of them not over ears anymore, plus less cord noise. I prefer in front over behind for my casual type listening.

It's quite obvious to see when an IEM is designed to be worn around the ear. No need for the manufacturer to come out and announce it.
But if they don't have the contoured (right word?) body, it's up to you how to wear them. I usually go hanging from the ears.

i chose option 2, but wouldn't this vary by your earphone model? (1 vs 2 or 3)

Will be doing over the ears in front with customs, usually just straight down with universals.

This should be a multiple-choice poll, coz it really depends on the IEMs.

I've always preferred over the ears, in front even with IEMs designed to be worn straight down. Way less microphonics that way.

Does anyone know when people started to wear cords over the ears?
I wear my MTP Coppers over-the-ear, under the chin. I use Phonak silicone ear guides. Wearing them in this way totally eliminates microphonics for me...

Interestingly, the TF10vi have a mic that you can only use when you wear the IEM over the ear, under the chin, in front.
I don't think they were really designed to go behind the back.
Just a thought.
I'm trying to wear them behind the back though, over the ear.

Over the ears, hanging out front normally, but if I'm in class, I'll thread it through the back of my shirt and wear it hanging down my back.

Depends on where and when. I do over ear back and over ear front so both.
