Hi David. I have a question about HD800.

I find HD800 lacks some bass after 300 hours using and.

I like classical and jazz.

My system is ECC-1+spl phonitor+HD800/T1.

What about do you think this problem and how to resolve it.

Thank you very much.

I haven't modded my HD800s but it's possible that will help you as many do like it.  Tyll did a really nice article on this http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/diy-modification-sennheiser-hd-800-anaxilus-mod

But alternatively, a warmer amp would probably be of great help too.

Just a personal question David. What is your favorite closed circumaural Sennheiser headphone?  I personally like the HD250 Linear II . Have you heard them at all?

I haven't used the HD250.  With the closed Senns, I like the HD380, and I use the 280 all the time in the studio. I thought the Momentums sound really great for what they are designed for.

Are you talking about the HD280 ? At 99$, if you use them all the time in the studio, I cannot think of something else with better value in closed cans

I should have been specific and said, I use them when tracking in the studio....especially with other musicians.  They are very much a standard for that type of application, they can take a beating.  AKG 240 and AT M50s are popular for this too.

hahaha! I can just imagine "One man touring the Orpheus in a pickup truck..."

Actually, I was thinking before you sell-off most of your gears:

* Get you Industry sponsored for a nationwide tour (regional cities)
* Chartered Bus/Two drivers if sponsors are generous
* Mix things up so you're gigging a third of the tour

And so on...

If my memory serves me right, the HE60 was the only stat I've heard that could do a very planar/HD650/800 type mid in that middle C isn't too leaned out and is properly filled out.

I think there is a lot of misconception about the HD800 lacking bass.  It does not, it has very good defined bass and is not lacking.  What it is, its the treble that masks the bass amplitude.  An EQ is the easiest solution, follwing that, perhaps IPodPJ's T shirt mod or whatever mod is popular now could address this.

Thanks for your advice.

I think the bass of LCD-3 and HD650 is very perfect. And HE-500‘s bass is also good.

Perhaps this is a misconception.
