The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

Do the headphones in the OP really need EQ that much to be bass cannons? I'm not a big fan of EQ after spending so much time in the past messing with it. I just want to plug my stuff in to whatever and go. I'm figuring the XB-1000 is going to be the bassiest headphone without EQ, am I correct?

Yup the xb1000 would probably bring the wow factor the easiest if you can find a set

If you love bass don't be afraid of EQ!

If you wanna be lazy just steal my settings... even if you don't use ReaEQ you can tune it into any EQ. I just prefer parametric EQ's because I work with them when recording.

Some just need power to be bass cannons but EQ is going to make everything better. Some people in here recommend vintage receivers and they're usually a good bet because they push so much power to the headphone jack. For IEMs it means you are gonna have a hard time with the vol knob though

That's good to hear. I've got the sz1000 coming so I've got the bass end covered. But I'm planning on ordering the ath-m50x later this week for those times I don't feel like rattling my brains loose.

m70x is waaaaay different from m50x which have much bassier sound (which is why 70x bass was a nice surprise to me), it's kind of weird they put them in the same series - "portable closed backs" i guess, hope you enjoy the m50x though- they seemed pretty nice when I tried them.

Sony are so weird... I think they discontinue stuff just for the fun of it sometimes

I bought some time ago the Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro that are intended more for hip-hop music with powerful bass...or this is what I think.

One week ago I acquired the V-moda Crossfade M-100 that in theory are more intended for electronic music.

For me the V-moda seem the perfect headphones also for hip- hop, Bass music with audiophile quality, clarity and if you want more deep bass I'm using in my smartphone Poweramp  + Viper4android with only these options:

Poweramp setup:

Preset soft Bass (modified and increased the low frequencies, flat mids and increased a bit the treble)

Viper4Android Setup:

Playback Gain Control-moderate-4x
surround-lvl 3
viper bass-pure bass-100hz 14.0dB
viper clarity-XHiFi 10.0dB
Output Gain 6.0dB

I turn the volume on my smartphone only to 1/4 and is awesome, like the Gucci Mane song LOL

These guys are gonna be successful....as they should be.

**waits for the KANNON**

I've been following his impressions and Luckbad. I'll be on the lookout.

So, it would be the first handset 40mm driver worth 10 list basshead extreme.

Interested in these headphones. Might have to wait for your final review.

MassDrop is going to sell 1000 Fostex TH-X00 starting in a few hours. Wondering if I should order a pair.

After listening to Jude's review of the TH-X00, as a Basshead I think I'll pass on this drop and wait for the Kannons to appear, IF the price is right. According to the review, the sound sig of the TH-X00 was flattened and the bass reduced for a neutral sound. Doesn't sound like fun for a basshead. Reduced and flattened are not words of comfort to me, lol.

I think the bass on the TH-x00 is mostly due to pads, the drivers are still very capable of EQ. I was impressed with my audition this past weekend!
