Too bad they aren't offering the removable cable variant. But still, getting an E-MU for $350 is a good deal.
Definitely, apparently the bamboo cups sound really good too. I would have purchased these instead of my DT 770's + Atom / Atom dac if I knew they were coming back.

Can anyone recommend headphone with strong mid bass (60-100Hz), crunchy midrange and highs that are not emphasized, basically _/\___ headphone?

PortaPro!

Not too far off at all, lol. I'm extremely happy with the results, both sound and looks.

Really well done. Looks professional!

Im sorry. I have explained myself wrong. I wanted to know how much you paid for the fostex. Thank you
I purchased it for about 20% off its retail price - approximately $1,300.

Has anyone tested the pads of the fostex th 900 on the th 610? I have read that they are left with a similar sound profile.
I haven't done that before, but they actually have a slightly similar sound signature. At the very least, you can tell that these headphones hail from the same family. The TH900 is a more aggressive headphone, though, thanks to its accentuated treble response.

E-mu's are back again on Drop, wish I would have known they were coming back! https://drop.com/buy/emu-wood-series-headphones
That's a good price. Shame, it's not the removable cable variant. The stock Teak has a rather long cable; it's 3m in length, the same as the headphones in the old Denon DX000 series. The cable is also thick and unwieldy - it drives me nuts when I'm using my Denon D2000.

In any case, this Drop offers the Teak at a $50 reduction in price, as opposed to getting it directly from the E-MU website. However, you'll have to wait until early September before Drop fulfils the orders. For anyone who wants to get their hands on a Teak right away, you can order them directly from E-MU. You'll have to pay full retail, though.

Can you tell me in brief words the differences berween thx 900 and denon ahd700?
If you are talking about the D7000, I can give you a brief comparison.

The TH900 is "v-shaped", with a scooped midrange that is bookended by an enhanced treble response and a boosted bass section. There is a sizeable mid-bass hump, coupled with great extension into the lows. You'll get a stellar bass response, with good layering, impact, and slam. There is a lot of energy in its signature, thanks in large part to its sparkling highs; some have found them to be sibilant, but personally, I think it's fine.

The D7000 is the more linear headphone, with less obvious peaks in the treble, and a robust low-end presence that isn't overbearing. It has a lush, full midrange that adds a lot of life to vocals. I haven't heard them in a few years, but I have always held the D7000 in very high regard.

I feel that the Denon fares better with vocal-related genres, whilst the Fostex has the upper hand in music that requires a strong bass and treble presentation - this is where the strengths of the Fostex come into play. Nevertheless, the Denon is the better all-rounder, IMO.

Thanks for reply - i didn't try them cause of 80Ohms rating, which i think is too much :p
However, i've tried DT770 and i was utterly disappointed...AIAIAI TMA2 sounded great, as well as M100.
I was thinking about Aventho Wired, but i have some strange disgust about Beyerdynamic headphones :p

Anything else? I'm looking into max 300e range.

Mmm, how about the E-MU Teak, or the Fostex TH-X00? Both of these headphones have a slightly boosted mid-bass section, and are fairly linear from the mids to the treble. At the very least, the highs aren't harsh or sibilant.

hmm, yeah the bass I think is what suffers most if they are underpowered
was serious about PortaPro, pretty much the signature you were describing AFAICT... though I guess that is still 60 ohms.
