I had the "A" and the "R" and sold them both. Not bad but not anything that was going to get a lot of head time. Sub bass on "A" was good/present. Very comfy and I love me some Sony.
I may have a chance to trade for a pair and I was going to get the balanced cable for them for about $80. I'm wondering how they'll sound with the balanced cable.

Balanced has clear benefits IMO but it's on par with burn-in in provability. The Mogami made it sound a bit wider and smoother ( could all be in my mind.....everything is though
I love my set very much

I got mine on Yahoo auctions Japan.
If you type HD700 Mogami you might find some hits with the same connects as you need.

Hi all, anyone know where to buy decent replacement pads for XB500/700/1000? I bought some 500 pads from a random ebay seller, though good quality they're just not as fat or soft as the originals. Searching for 'genuine' doesn't return any hits. Thanks!
How does the DD compare to X00? @ctaxxxx mentioned EMU teak and got me wondering

EMU / TH-X00 are better overall (resolution, bass, vocals, etc.), no matter which cup you use. But you're also paying 5x the sale price the DDs have. If you're on a budget though, DDs aren't bad. I usually have to EQ down the vocals though as they sound a little harsh IMO.How does the DD compare to X00? @ctaxxxx mentioned EMU teak and got me wondering

Can someone chime in how would the DD compare to the portapro?
Thanks!

Any recommendations for a good pair of over the ear headphones that have great bass unamped and without eq? I listen to rap and metal. Preferably something under $250 too, although I could probably be convinced to spend more of it was a much better set of headphones.

First, our meet in Houston, TX, then our meet thread, then the Monoprice M1060 thread. After hearing at least one of their experiences from the M1060 thread, the rig that @snellemin made should be pictured here, too:

I was surprised how low in the subbass region those M1060's could go and still be enjoyable in the overall frequency range. Good stuff.

Check out the bass-bump on the rig's screen. @snellemin has a bunch of stuff that brings in the bass-bump on his playlist.
