Well, at least that is better news than I thought. I had thought I read some say that they were just not available anymore. Though, having to purchase so many at a time, they might as well be discontinued. It wouldn't be quite as bad if it were 500 or less. A bunch of the folks that use them could come together and buy a bundle. But 2000, it seems like they purposely put them out of reach of the average DIYer.
I'm not sure if they meant that they would have to buy 2000 from the factory to restock their store or if 2000 is the minimum consumer order. Either way, I think they were just letting me know that the driver is not extinct..

Edit2: Damn the double posting restriction!
Can someone please tell me what is going on there? I seem to be able to save up to 68€ via coupons and coins. Still the final sale price is around 140€ cheaper, which is twice this amount?!?
Aliexpress can be soooo confusing at times!!
When going to the PayPal page it displays the cheap price, but states that the final sale price might be higher (up to 393€) including extra fees, and I'll see the final price when returning to the AliExpress page after hitting the pay button on PayPal. This seems crazy that they display a lower price, even in the PayPal payment window and then charge you more afterwards!!! What is going on?!?

Looks like PayPal is applying your 59.51 PayPal credit towards the purchase which lowers the amount of your out of pocket expense for the purchase is all. AliExpress will still be payed the total amount due. I believe that is what is happening.

It would be cool to see your metal shells. @tgx78 has also made nicely detailed metal mx500 shells for the Serratus 2 buds. Not sure if he had them 3D printed or had them made a different way. I know that the traditional way of crafting with metal is to use jewelery making techniques. It's really amazing how many base materials can be used for 3D printing these days, though you need an expensive industrial 3D printer for some of the more exotic materials. There's also metal polymer clay (copper, silver and gold) which is can be used for crafting jewelery as well. I guess there's several different ways to make metal earbud shells.

Thank you for the reminder! I went to look for them and managed to find the few I had left. The reason I didn't keep doing stuff with metal shells is well, they're not something I like the feeling of and look wise either. They don't exactly get that accuracy I am after, especially with smaller porting and can come off expensive.

They were inspired by the MX500, with changes of course but sadly I lost the original files. Managed to get it done in an aluminium material!

I don't think that is what's really happening. This weird "cheap" price is showing up even if I use a different payment method. Also the final price doesn't align at all with the Alix discount + my Paypal credit...
Also on the PayPal checkout it says the final price paid may be higher - up to 393€.
However! I'll try buying the RW4000 with another payment method. 327€ seems really ok and by far the cheapest price I personally have seen them go for! Fomo has gotten the best of me...
EDIT: I found out what was going on: there was an extra discount of 68€ to reflect the customs fee I would have to pay. So this order would have shipped without import duties... This was why the final price appeared to be so cheap. It is the first time this has happened to me.
I payed 327€. Canceled the order now, 68€ more is just too much of a stretch for me. Dammit! Will have to wait for another supersale on the RW4000.

I may have missed the discussion but is there any difference between the 120Ω and 150Ω bery drivers?

Pretty cool, those shells really have that cast iron look.

The RW4k will still be there when you find the right price. If or when an RW5k version drops (maybe a couple years...), the RW4k price should go down...

True! The graph comparison between RW2K, 3k and 4k made me think the 4k might fix my tiny complaint on the 3k. But not willing to try it at 400€. 😞
Also I've got a lot of new drivers coming for the next big DIY session when the family is out of the house for 2 weeks. I am very much looking forward on perfecting my 300r lcp build. I have two more 300r lcp and 2 more 130r bery coming, so finally will be able to tune those with 3 sets, so there will be A/B/C comparability on the changes I do - high hopes for this approach! 🤩

When the next school vacations comes up my girlfriend and the kids leave to visit the relatives in Hungary.
And yeah, my girlfriend is also annoyed because I started to smoke again. Terrible habit! 🥴
