The cable was a custom 5cm made by FORZA. @Matez.  It is amazing (Mojo) with the minutia level detail in tracks.

Neutron sounds great with it.

Am hoping somebody does a bass test with the TH-X00 and assume the Massdrop version of the Th900 is going to share the same specs/driver as the X00....??

Massdrop has done the stock TH-900 before with just a group buy price. They've done 2 drops of the TH-X00 in mahogany and the drop last week was purpleheart wood on the same TH-X00. They're doing another mahogany TH-X00 soon. So, there is no Massdrop version of the TH-900; the TH-X00 is modeled after the TH-600.

Just some advice to those going after the various Fostex TH versions.

Buy the TH900 instead of wasting money on the various low cost variants. To this day, the TH900 is the bona-fide King of Subbass.

Bite the bullet and do it.

Unless you don't like shrill, ear-piercing treble (aka treble sensitive). Or spending 3x as much money. I think the TH-X00 makes a pretty good case for itself at $400. The TH-600, not so much.

The only thing is, we get all hyped about the TH-X00 variants with non-removable cables only to find out that the TH-610's are soon to arrive, said to have detachable cables... I wish that there was more info on the 610's. Maybe they will be 600's with a detachable cable as opposed to the X00's? Questions, questions. I'm not as sold on the matte finish as I am on the detachable cables. I rather like the jewel look of the glossies. The X00 Purplehearts are delicious-looking. Decisions, decisions.

The TH900 needs just a 3db reduction in treble from flat and if you boost the bass, the treble settles down without any EQ.

Your link seems to imply that the 610's will have a sound quality difference due to the change in the housing and indicate a major change (from the 600's w/Black Walnut cups).  The X00 is already a subtle (sound) change from the 600, with an additional change added with the Purpleheart cups. So, if they are changing it still further, where are they headed? Price-wise, there isn't a lot of difference btw the X-00 Purpleheart at $449 vs a $599 for the TH-600. By phasing out the 600 and changing the sound, they may make the 600 a rare classic.

I noticed the biggest difference from TH-600 to TH-X00 in the treble. I am assuming the TH-610 will use the same drivers as the TH-600 so I think they'll be VERY similar to the TH-X00. The removable cable would be nice but not worth it for me personally. I'm also not a fan of the matte wood finish at first glance.
