The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

Finally, my 55X cans turned up - for pad harvesting duties to go on my SZ2000!

But before the swap, I took a bass/paper test of the 55's, same layout as above...

...looks like JVC just turn out basshead headphones for fun - they make it look so easy

50mm drivers pushing some serious clean air I'd say

Notes: The JVC HA-MA55X is one for the recommended list IMO. The video shows these cans at their limit before the drivers would start to rattle and you can hear very slight driver rattle at times during the test, but still a very good and amazing value for money basshead headphone for sure

Those white pads... YES! I am so excited to see those on some SZs

Post service surprised me - 44x arrived before estimated time. They are so small after SZ2000/77x, looking like a toy. They are distortion free, plastic cups resonate before distortion (like 77x). One book, one medicine can - and here you have it, HA-SR44 paper test (I wish i had better camera in my phone). Volume is something near 60%, if you push it further driver rattles on one side, weird.

I think they are good enough for 40mm bass can, but Kraken is definitely better. If you have basshead GF (ah, dreams) this is your choice for gift - light, flashy headphones, flashy thingy will do  the job anyways

Superb!

And JVC do it yet again - these guys have the biggest range of credible to king basshead headphones currently on the market.

40mm driver headphones is a very commonly used size for consumer headphones, but without doubt, the hardest to push SPL air, so when you see a 40mm basshead headphone performing well on a bass/paper test, you're watching a very accomplished set of 40mm drivers at play for sure, though in this case, extreme deep bass ports are assisting to good effect.

Looks like we've got another winner to go up on the extreme basshead recommended list

Big thanks to you Zankin for taking the time and effort to make the test for the benefit for all to enjoy and appreciate, if anyone wondered how the 44X performs in the bass/paper test - boom!...

....now they know

A valorous fighter for sure from the fighting fame of the Xplosive Xtreme team :veryevil:

Oh man, now i want this white pads, why there is white 44x,55x, but no 77x
confused.gif
They perform well, but I think it's better to add some more and go for 77x.
try changing the pads to something deeper and bigger... If you have anything like that and are willing to.

Bought them only for test, I'm ok with SZ2k and 77x, will gift them to cousin or something, so no need for spare pads :)

Ain't they preddie?

I know our red thread leader was looking forward to seeing how the white pads look on the SZ2000's

Personally, I think the white contrast of the pads to the black are the shizzle for sure, no schiit - like the SZ2K's have been reborn - lol :D

Flawless?

Like perfection?

Like no other?

Maybe...

That looks pretty dope. If that price you mentioned is correct these easy to assemble badboys are on my radar.  The dido sounded about as hard hitting as 40mm can go so I'd assume their Super Bass modules must be identical or close relatives to the

I had to put on a pair of glasses when i saw these things, dam they're bright.  Did a hipster design these things

they'd look cool if the colors weren't so... All over the place and flashy. Blue, orange, silver, black, and red do not mix imho. Yes, that's coming from a guy who has a rainbow colored pony for an avatar. But I guess bass won't be effected by crazy colors though.

isn't he using a Sony DAP? The Sony DAP's have an effect called clearbass or something. I myself just use my phones built in EQ to add 24db@50hz then flip the E11 bass boost switch to maximum. Can't make out the vocals cuz they drown in sub-bass when listening to/feeling "on my level"... You need a good way to EQ bass and an amp.

My original loves the 55x next to their little bro's first test and then cb dresses the sz up in it's finest threads. What a great couple pages full of awesome

*Note

The XXseries employs a large open cup design that essentially "free airs" the driver. It will cause driver or driver housing rattle unless on the head when it will seal one side and reduce or eliminate. with my 55 and 77x this occurred. They are a screw less design which has flaws but it seemed to me the free airing of the cans with almost wide open ported asses and it not on your ear was causing a lot of the issue.

It's not the pads - its your ears at fault - lol
biggrin.gif

They look about as deep as my WS99's and I've no issue with them as unlike the SZ2000 stock pads which have little support and collapse down when in use, the WS99's and by the look of pad in your pic which look identical but obviously will be of smaller diameter - don't.

You've mentioned you had issue with your favourite AKG240 headphones when you first got them, driver touching part of one of your ears but now you find this is no issue - what's the difference here?

Or why aren't you asking what third party pads are compatible with the WS77's to replace stock pads if such an outrage to you?

... I guess my ears stick out quite a lot lol. The K240? I think my ears actually got squished down because of wearing them, plus there's foam covering the plastic... Still hurt even though there was foam though. On the WS77's, my ears are on the plastic directly with zero foam, and the pads aren't big enough imo to transfer bass hit very well. I'll go ask in a WS77 thread. :)
