How is the player and where did you buy it?

The SQ is very similiar to the Kogan player with nice soundstage and detail. Mpmman is using the ATJ2257D SoC, with better firmware, settings, materials etc. compared to the Kogan player. I sold my Benjie S5 because of this gem. I've bought it at conrad.de. As far as i know its only available in the EU.

The quality to price equation is true but remember it's a steep curve for that last 10%. IMHO you get your best value in upgrading phones over Daps & Dacs, use the ones you like the best for that situation

Three words: "diminishing returns" "bottleneck"

"diminishing returns" - the first 100 bucks will result in a much larger jump in quality than the last 100

"bottleneck" aka "weakest link" - you may have the world's best DAP/DAC if your phones are crap the sound will be crap, too.

I haven't owned a standalone DAP in many years, owned and IRiver iHP-120 when it was new. Picked up a used Fiio X1 for $30, Topping NX1 for $30, 200GB micro SD for $55, case was $14, Logitech UE  for $25 and some cheapie Monoprice $3 buds. I have the new Xiaomi Triple Drivers coming my way ($18)

As long as your using high quality files, I would say the difference in minimal in my case. I have a Galaxy S6 and owned a V10, both have good DACs, but where the smartphone fails is radio interference. I absolutely can't stand it when listening to music and it comes in quite frequently unless you put the phone in airplane mode.

It's quite amusing too, if I place my phone too close to the Fiio, I'll hear the same interference.

I recently started using my Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2 instead of my phone at work. It is still going strong despite its Gingerbread os. Its only drawback is its Bluetooth 3.0 SQ is obviously inferior.

Gotta ask how that combo sounds. I love my ZST and have been looking for a new player to run with.

These are nice together however a little on the bright side together, for a little warmer signature I like the VJJB K4's with it
