Best "open" headphones under $40 ?

Will be used mostly for movies, plugged into my receiver's headphone jack. I prefer on ear, as long as they are lightweight and comfy on the ears. Over the ear are fine too, but if the cups are not deep and large enough, and touch my ears, I hate that. Thanks.

    Signature Acoustics O16 Live Review

Signature Acoustics made a splash with their much loved C12 wooden iems. It was well made, reasonably priced and was fun to listen to. Buoyed by the success, Signature Acoustics has launched another iem- the O16 Live. Let’s see how the second offering fares.   Build quality, Packaging...

    Disappointed with koss ksc 75

I just got Koss ksc 75. I listened to it with most genres of music: pop, rock, classical... and i was disappointed, it just slightly better than my stock ear phone.

    A reasonably priced alt headphones

Could anyone please give some good alternatives to beats solo hd? I like the look but I don't like the sound quality.  Please try go keep it under 60 dollars as I am not rich. I don't like my skullcandy earbuds after I got one gel piece stuck in my ear (stupid of me to do that )  Thanks

Just got the dt770-80's, they're alright, but I'm after a different sound

I received the dt770-80's today and I'm not really satisfied with them. From what I've read, I don't think I'll ever be even after amped/burn-in. So I'm looking for something new with input from you guys.   I listen to stuff across the board but right now it's predominantly electronic, soul...

    Portapro in Montreal

Hello there, I'm having large trouble trying to find Koss Portapro headphone in Montreal. Futureshop have decided to stop having them in their shelves. I've been everywhere, impossible to find. FutureShop, HMV, Archambault, various electronic stores on Ste-Catherine, RadioShack, even...

The PX 100 and PX 100 ii. Is there a difference?

For a while, I have been searching for a portable can which would help me with my metal (Death, Tech Death, Black, Post....) listening needs. Due to the speed, complexity and bad recording/mastering techniques prevalent in  this genre, it is not exactly suitable for every other headphone. Since...

Sennheiser PX 100: White or black?

I was looking around for the Sennheiser PX 100 in stores and could not find it. I looked online and found that I can buy it at Circuit City, but it would be white. It is listed as a "PX 100W", but I assume the W is just because it is white, right? It is the same as the Sennheiser PX 100, right...

    PX100 or MDR-D66

Hello guys. After some post and replies from some head-fiers I think I'm going to get a pair of PX100 headphones. The thing is that I already own a pair of Sony's MDR-D66 (eggo) headphones and I find them to be a pretty nice headphone. I was wondering if the sound quality of the PX100 would...

Will Sennheiser PX 100-II fit the PX-100 case?

Hi! Has anyone tried fitting the PX 100-II (comes with a soft "bag", as far as I know) into the original model PX 100 hard case? I suspect they might not fit, as the headband appears a bit wider on the PX 100-II, but firm info from someone who has tried it would be nice to have. Anyone? Thank...

Searching for lightweight headphones and BT adapter with controls..

The title says it all, some years ago I had Sennheiser PX-100 in white, and loved them very much, but didn't have much listening time, as I'm more into speakers, then a headphones, so eventually I sold them because of that. As for today, I'm again into search, as I discover new stuff pretty...

Gonna spend some money - I don't need advice, just fellow audiophiles to discuss options with up to $500 budget

Howdy all - like I said in the title, I need to chat with people as opposed to just reading threads....   I have a decent flac collection, foobar, etc. I use a Gilmore lite + psu and an emotiva xda1. My current phones are AKG k601, AT ESW9, JVC HA s500, and a pair of px100s. (I also have the...

    Replace Dead PX100s

My Sennheiser PX100s are starting to die and I'm looking for a replacement. Looks like the PX100s are discontinued. Haven't looked for a new pair in a while. Anything under $50 other than the Koss Porta Pros on the market?

    Valhalla for HE560

I have a Valhalla and was wondering if it was powerful enough to juice the HE560's properly. I just got the HE560's and they sound great but I am not knowledgeable enough to know the ins and outs of powering this stuff. I love the Valhalla with all of my other cans, especially my cheaper stuff...

Hi,    I am new to the forum. Just purchased a new set of UE4000's , not the fanciest on ear phones but got a great deal and I think they sound pretty good, as good if not better than my old Sennheiser PX100's. Have been doing some research on mini headphone amps, have come across all the usual...

Can you mod small on-ear headphones like Sennheiser PX100 into neck-band headphones?

As title says, is there a decent way of doing this?   I like the neck-band style, and I have a Beyerdynamic headphone with a neckband but poor audio quality - can I somehow glue the neckband onto the PX100? And woulld the results be ok?   Has anyone done anything like this?

Woodied Sennheiser aka SennGrado Tour Thread

Gentlemen, prepare yourselves. It's time.    For those of you who are unaware there's something new in head-fi that both Grado-heads and Sennheiser fans should hear: the SennGrado.   You may have seen or heard about them in the Grado Mods thread or the Non-Grado Driver thread. They're...

Who still has their original Sennheiser PX 100's?

I have been floating from phone to phone lately...I brought these back out of my dresser where I keep most of my cans. I forgot why I stopped using these to begin with.    They still work! No problems with the cords or anything. I will say this...I know they get compared to the Porta Pros (I...

Finally got the new PX 100s, decided to compare them to the old ones

I still have my old PX 100's. They still work and pump out great sound.    I kept reading comparisons between the two. It seems pretty equally divided as to which one is better.    Differences I notice (I should note that all of the listed differences are very subtle. I had my sister try out...

    Portapros or Senn PX-100

Both are in about the same price range at the big A, so these are the two I'm looking at.
