Earbuds Round-Up

it's because iec711 measurements massively undercompensate the gain above about 600Hz on average, so to get flat on the 4620/5128 you need to dip that region on 711, it's good, DF-like gain sucks imo. (oh and also DMS diffuse field comped them on the 4128 rig, probably the main point there, DF has a smooth increase up to its peak, so a reduction in that region will cause it to look dipped when compensated)

(worst case scenario of compensation)

I get what you're saying here but even in a compensated graph the dip is significant.

DF Mids will be harsh to some, the point of a target curve is to get an average, not precise, target, so this is expected, but I don't know anyone who wants five to ten decibels of reduction in ear gain. Plus, they don't all have that dip! The NiceHCK he measured doesn't have it nearly as bad, and the Yincrow has it farther into the upper mids where it can be more agreeable, why is that?

Just received Yincrow RW-3000 from aliexpress summer sale. Quite amazed, the most natural and balanced sounding earbuds in my collection, very smooth with nice visceral bass, unoffensive treble, and surprisingly spacious soundstage. They just sound big, like good full size headphones.
The others in my collection:
- ATH-CM700Ti - great details, elevated mids, not super bright, but almost complete absence of bass
- Smabat ST-10s Gold (150 Ohm) - more technical than ATH, almost perfect except that treble spike that depending on the source can be quite fatiguing, FiiO bass foamies tame it to more or less tolerable level.

Yincrow seems like the best tuned earbuds so far, almost ThieAudio Monarch MK2 neutral, in fact I think they are extremally close timbre wise.
Great build and packaging, supple, nice looking modular cable, leather case, comes with a bunch of different foamies, but I just went for FiiO balanced tips right out of the box.

EDIT: Thanks ARES 35, samandhi, baskingshark, and all other users from this thread for their recommendations and help navigating through the sea of earbuds offerings.

@samandhi @mt877 @WoodyLuvr

Thanks guys. YINMAN 600 ohm 4.4mm termination incoming.

My first Ali order. Seller (AVCCK) seems quite accommodative.
Congrats on your new shiny!

I hope you enjoy both sets as much as I have?!

depends on the bud, all i can really say, it'd have to be simulated for us to know for sure.
(also DF is garbage)

Honestly for someone coming looking for earbuds thread is getting hard to navigate due to excessive DIY chat/banter.
Would having separate thread for DIY be beneficial for everyone, consumers and builders?
Although if you review the last 200 pages they only talk about the same 5 buds, constantly, nobody takes the time to use the search engine either... but if the problem is in people talking about DIY... well that will be the problem....

look, my last DIY
