Found the 1st gen shuffle today for $10. Monk+ sounds great with it.

Total = $15

One of the best sounding players Apple ever made. Did you get the 500mb one?

Guys, these IEMs retail for $12 and for many reasons should be the star of this thread. Twelve dollars.

Fiio Q1 70$ and the Vsonic Vsd3s 50$
I connect these to my phone via otg, and it works pretty nicely.
It is nice to see the nx1 receiving some love it feels like a waste that I don't have a use for mine anymore.

I would love to post pictures of my sub $200 set up but it says I don't have permission to.
I have a ZTE Axon which I got for $179.00. I use it to power:
Monoprice 8323 DJ headphones ( $12.00 direct from Monoprice with a %20 off deal and free shipping)
Monoprice 12235/6 "Hi-Fi Reflective Sound Technology Earphones"with mic ($3.00)
Monoprice 8320 enhanced bass noise isolating earphones ($2.00)
Jbl J13 earbuds (Included with the ZTE Axon.)

My other set up is an iphone 4s ( I got it for free, but I know these can be had for less than $100) that I use with:
California Headphone Company Laredo ($15.00 Newegg December 2014)
Sony MDR 7506 ($80.00)

I love the sound quality of the Axon. I can't recommend it enough, especially if you are purchasing a phone outright as opposed to some kind of financing option with one of the carriers. It's usually 'on sale' for $199.00 but I have seen it drop down to as low as $159.00 for a one day sale.
I know people gripe about the lack of an sd card slot, but I use Spotify and set it to the highest quality level. In terms of loss of SQ using streaming, it's minimal, especially when considering this is a portable rig. I have listened to FLAC files through Poweramp vs.Spotify and there is a small difference.........but only when I am sitting in my house, with no ambient noise TRYING to hear the difference.
