I've got some more feedback for the "Destiny".
You remember I giftet 2 sets as birthday presents for a couple we are friends with? The father of the wife wants to "order" a set! 😜
Of course this will be a present as well... I will have to order more drivers - don't have any more in stock. This is a real hit!
Good to know. It looks like I'll finally have more free time for my first build this weekend. I already have several different drivers on hand but this should be the "Destiny" as well.

The Destiny is a great start into DIY and really easy to build!
Apart from Rary's DIY guide this post
By @metrics helped me a lot, as this explains quite a bit what the tuning materials do usually. Emphasis on "usually" here, as I have found drivers that react very differently - the 300r LCP being one of those for instance...
Anyways, this is super helpful, because if you don't use two identical builds but instead start tuning with only one build, it can get confusing what your change really did, as there is no comparability!
I know you are going to measure to see what your changes do, so there is that.
I believe a direct check between two identical buds where you do a tuning change on one of those two and comparing them A/B is a quicker way to do things, albeit maybe less "professional" if you will.
Whoa.. Been hearing too much of these
Do it! 😁👍
Very cool indeed! It seems your friends have been really enjoying their Destiny buds enough to recommend them to the wife’s father as well. What tuning do they like? First version tuning or refined tuning? It’s great that they were surprised by the sound quality coming out of such innocent looking earbuds.
I did build for them with a tiger cable that has the microphone.
There seems to be a bit more airflow through the cable entry with this cable.
The brighter tuning here is with a full Y2 paper. The darker with 2 holes cut free. I didn't get any feedback from them other than that the buds sound awesome. Also I don't really want to ask for it, I am super happy that they like the buds, don't think they really checked for the difference as well, they aren't audiophiles. Don't want to put myself any more in the "audiophile nerd" shelf than I already are, if that makes any sense. 😁
For the father I'll build the brighter tuning. He's in his late 60ies, so his hearing in the upper registers might most probably already be degraded. I'll make the bright tuning for him.
Given your sound preference, i think the first driver you sent (32ohms ti comp red dot), may suit you more, the other ti comp is very bright and dry (the one in the the fourth link).
75ohms nanofiber is a very good driver but it is no longer in stock, but the 32 version may be also good, but i don't have experience with it.
As for this full ti driver, i also don't know much.

All are bassy drivers except for the 32 bio.
From your list I would choose the 32 comp TI or 64 TI (goes well with bass tube tuning) and the 32 bery comp that I recommended earlier
I will order the 32 r comp ti, comp bery and nanofiber. They are not expensive compared to some other stuff, so what can go wrong?
Why exactly do I need the 64r TI @jeejack ? 😁
By the way, i did some more tuning on my 130r bery build with bass tube and must say this is an absolute beast now!!!
Very balanced with a slight bass boost, but increadible bass extension and crisp and extended treble without any fatiquing upper mids. Works with all styles of music as well. I call it "The Universal".

What kind of shells?
I also have a pair or these but will keep them for later when I already know what I am doing :)

MX500. Am planning to do a post with photos on how to do the bass tube. Will post it on the DIY thread some time in the future, as I don't have time for it right now, the family life is keeping me from nerding around... 😏

Try qian39 shells for Titanium DIY builds. Not that easy to drive speakers. K.s 300 easily driven by smartphone, same sound signature, but Ti driver needs player.

In this case I don't need it at this time. 😊
And why do I need the 120r LCP? I am guessing it is the one with the same construction as the 300r LCP - so I think a Huayunxin make.
Thank you!
For a refined, more audiophile sound, so to speak.
@jeejack I'm so curious how many different types of drivers you have in your collection. You are like the earbuds encyclopedia! 😂
I have almost all the DIY drivers on the market

There you go.
OH! Thanks so much. :)
Oh I did own them, the balanced was most used n the last pair got used up last month. I still do have the bass foams. They're great medium density ones but since I don't have access to aliex it's hard to get hold of them. I'll try to talk to taobao agents of they can talk n get me that. ( The ones I've is from ff3 which I sold without the foams)
Have you tried contacting FiiO directly? They might be able to sell you them from their official site. Or you could also try contacting them on their store on Amazon here.
Nope, got some error saying order payment is not possible.

I have just placed an order via agent (Superbuy). I hope everything goes well.
You guys made me do this buy mentioning Yinman 600 too often :)
Let us know how it went. I hope it goes well for you.
Let me know how it went and if I will need them too. I basically know for 2 years already that I want them! Was waiting patiently for one to show up on the classifieds, but the fact there are none popping up speaks volumes. One time there was one, but I realized a few days too late and the set went to the guy I later bought the RW-3000 off of. 😊
Dang! You waited just a tad bit too long to pull the trigger on these my friend. :)

Yeah, you won't see many show up in classifieds section.
Was planning recently to build some kind of "reimagination" of it using the 600r bery driver, because it seemed always out of my reach and I just didn't want to go through the hassle and uncertainty of buying via Taobao in Europe.
So let me know how it went and how you like them when they arrive... 👍
Hope you have an atomic reactor at home to drive the Yinmans correctly! 😁
It would be fantastic to see something that matches the sound of these. IMO they are completely unique in almost every way.
Absolutely! And then, If I don't like them enough, I will be happy to sell them to you :) By the way, I took the 4.4mm jack version. 600ohms will be a problem for sure as I will have to use them with my stationary Marantz PM5 or Creative Sound Blaster X5 which does not make much sense with earbuds.
One more reason to get some powerfull DAP.
It WILL make sense once you plug them into your Marantz. In order to get the most out of these (and depending on the level at which you listen to them), you would need something upwards of 10W to drive them to their full potential (not to say that they sound poorly at lower levels of power though). I use my iBasso DX300 to drive them portably, and it really isn't quite enough (2W).

Honestly though, I wouldn't have known that I wasn't driving them properly until I plugged them into a desktop amp that CAN drive them to potential. It's not really about getting volume because you can get these to very loud levels even out of a simple (non powerful) dongle. I hate to scare people off by stating that these are actually harder to drive than the (in)famous Hifiman Susvara (60Ω @83dB/mW), but I think that people should also be informed. Having said that, they sound very good even from a lesser powerful source, and it comes down to if one is willing to be happy with them even knowing that they aren't necessarily being damped correctly or not. :)
I think you snagged the last 4.4mm version! Only 3.5mm left when I tried.

Edit: I asked the seller if he is restocking 4.4mm version but he says he is unsure at the moment if they will be getting more stocks.
What a shame. Knowing the specs on these, there is no way I would ever buy this set with a 3.5mm SE connection unless I knew I would only be listening to these from a desktop (or better) amplifier; or if I planned on changing the cable myself.

When I bought the drivers I remember thinking. "Well, I'll only build one set, what the hell am I going to do with the 4 leftover sets of cheap drivers?!?"
Now I think I'll buy 10 more of those drivers... 😋
Everybody else stock up as well, get them while they last!
It seems to me these drivers are going to get scarce soon. The 120r and 150r bery comp with the same construction of big solder points, identical cicuit board and red dot are already out of stock.
While they may not be "audiophiles" it seems as though they have very good taste in sound... ;)
Go for it, you won’t be disappointed.
^^^^^ this!
KMTs Hyperreality.jpg

Hyperreality - QKZ MDR Shell + 32ohm green glue

Bright V-Shaped sound, good bass extension with good punch, treble is very exciting though not the most extended nor refined, deep soundstage, great technicalities.
Congrats one your new shiny! :)

They look very nice! I really like the cable as well. Great job!

Yeah.... I'm gonna' go ahead and say that it might be easier to count how many that the DOESN'T own..... :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: 👍

4.4 is back on stock for those interested. Also with small discount that I could see.

If you're able to do a little soldering, the Destiny build cost to performance ratio is very good. Others here have given a 👍 on the sound quality and I think you're more than likely to enjoy them as well.

I'm traveling right now and this extremely small tin box contain my set of Destiny buds. I couldn't leave home without them.

If and when AliX opens back up completely to folks in the US, parts for this build will be the first thing I buy!

I asked ChatGPT, Grok3 and Gemini for a DAP recommendation to drive these 600 ohm beasts and I they all were more optimistic than you :) :D

SHANLING M6 Ultra, Fiio M23 and HiBy R6 Pro II were recommended most, but as I understand even the FiiO would struggle there.

But yeah, experienced this with HB1 - even though the the sound level was totally fine listening with my powerful dongle, they only showed their true potential once I hooked them to the desktop amp.

EDIT:

Let us know how it went. I hope it goes well for you.
Looks like it's going OK so far - the earphones reached their local warehouse and I have just paid USD15 for shipping via "Europe DHL Duty-Free Route (Special)". Their system shows that this price already includes the customs duties, which is surprisingly low considering I chose to declare full value.

Here's the photo of the actual item.
