Earbuds Round-Up

There’s a store coupon for $100 off, plus a coins discount, which (for me) gets it down to $456 with tax. Not ready to blind buy, but if anyone else is, maybe that helps. :)
Geez, actually that does make it tempting.

Some front covers and the QIGOM 600ohm for the experiments:
Anyone tried modding the front covers?

It seems to me that these covers really affect the sound a bit too much, and buying a driver from a shop with the cover already glued on isn't really a good idea at all. They either take away too much sub-bass or treble, or not filtering enough treble.

CVJ Seven Earbud.

Seems there are a few variants:
1) Pure music version - single DD
2) Gaming version - DD + vibration unit
3) Gaming version with boom mic

It's pretty risky removing drivers from the faceplate, and even if you can fix ripped voice coils, it's bound to have audio imbalance, so I tend not to remove them. The safest way of removing the driver from the faceplate is by completely destroying it, but you can try covering some of the holes; it's a far safer mod imho but I find it only works at taming the treble.

I don't know about others, but I find metal mesh faceplates brighter and MX500 faceplates to be more bassy. It might vary from driver-to-driver synergy, so don't quote me on that lol.

RW4000 is out btw:
$560 from NickHCK audio store.

Considering how much I love the RW-3000, I'm definitely interested. But not to the extent that I'll blind buy.
Another one to add to my growing 'wishlist' of buds to hear/own. I did not realize this was out. Hopefully someone here takes one for the team and gives us some feedback/impressions. I love the slimmer look, should be comfortable at the very least. Cable looks nice as well. Good contrasting colors. Thanks for sharing. :)

Very interesting indeed, though I am not able to find these via a search from my location. Anyone have a link I can look at?!

Looks like it is "Starox" looking at the pictures that were posted here... :)

Yea I removed 6 drivers from their faceplates by destroying the covers today. It's actually not too risky wtih some tricks and tools IMO. Considering how much these change the sound, I just feel the DIY process is incomplete without testing and modding these faceplates.

There are different metal mesh faceplates so the sound also depends on their opening area I think. I have three different types of metal mesh and they all sound quite different. Like:

It's impossible to tell which synergizes better without testing them out with a driver.

Waiting for your impressions on the sound :L3000:
I have just finished some baseline measurements on a bunch of drivers I bought. Most are lacking in treble. I will try modding the ones with more treble and see how I go.

I am using a DIY coupler, but I am using the TGX Serratus as a reference point. The measurements are broadly correlating to my initial impressions of each set.

One set is significantly lacking treble even with no driver or shell damping, and yes, it sounds muffled.

Can Fiio KA13 drive Yinman properly?

It can, but on the 4.4 mm balanced output port on DESKTOP MODE.

Ie your Yinman 600 ohm must be configured with a 4.4 mm balanced cable, not the stock 3.5 mm single-ended one.
