Earbuds Round-Up

Hello! Longtime lurker, budding noob here. Can earhooks be used with flathead earbuds? I'm hoping to pair this short cable with Yincrow RW-3000, but I'm concerned the memory wire hooks makes it more appropriate for IEMs. If not ideal, can someone recommend a better short mmcx cable? Thank you.
I don't know this cable, but for most cables, you can remove the memory wire hooks. I do this with all my cables. For short cables I use the Hiby ones, very good

The Yincrow RW-3000 cable is designed to be used hanging from the ear, not over the ear.
Are you perhaps trying to use the cable over the ear? If so, you have to swap the left and right sides of the Shell.

I'd prefer to use it hanging from the ear, it's just that I haven't found many short mmcx cables, and the ones I linked feature memory ear hooks so I thought I might have to use them that way.

Huh, that review is thorough and rather enthusiastic indeed. But I'm not surprised, as there is nothing but universal praise over in the Liquid Spark thread.

I think I'm going to have to get me a pair of the Yinman 600's to enjoy on the Spark!
Well, first of all, thanks for posting that thread. I hadn't found it yet. Good impressions on there.

Secondly, I bit the bullet and pulled the trigger (how's that for a mixed metaphor!) on Amazon for this puppy. Arrives tomorrow, and also a male 3.5 to dual female RCA cable for the Megatron.

Reasons:
  • $80? Such a deal! So kind to the budget.
  • Hey, it's Amazon! If I don't like it for whatever reason I can just drop it by my local Kohls and they'll ship it back gratis.
  • Stellar, enthusiastic reviews.
  • Sound signature sounds great (warmish, crisp bass, mellow musical mids, easy-to-listen-to highs).
  • Lots of power for its class. (Don't really know how to interpret the other stuff. Let me know if there's anything problematic!)

Specification Value Notes

Frequency Response
+/- 0.05 db 10 Hz - 50 kHz

THD+N 0.0017% 1 V rms output into 33 ohm load
@ 1 kHz 0.0019% 5 V rms output into 33 ohm load

IMD CCIF 0.0002% 1 V rms output into 33 ohm load
0.001% 5 V rms output into 33 ohm load

IMD SMPTE 0.0003% 1 V rms output into 33 ohm load

Noise -102 dB 3x gain
relative to 1 V rms -96 dB 6x gain

Max Output in Watts Defined as voltage for ~ 1% THD
33 ohms 2.400 8.90
56 ohms 1.531 9.26
150 ohms 0.614 9.60
300 ohms 0.314 9.70

output impedance < 0.09 ohms
crosstalk < -83 db @ 1kHz 1 V rms output into 33 ohm load

channel balance 0.3 db with pot at unity gain

Cavelli recommends a 100 hour burn-in. I will post impressions (especially with the Yinmans) after that.

Thanks for everyone's interest and help!

I did a quick check and so far, I do not have ANY CHi-FI earbuds in my collection! It started with Swedish and Canadian, then Korean, Indonesian, Filipino, British...hmm, may be someday a Singaporean (Blur) will add to my collection. I am not sure if I will go for Chi-Fi before auditioning them. I have given preference to the Artisan earbud makers over Chi-Fi because of the ability to consult with the makers directly before deciding on a purchase.
Even though your buds were made in countries other than China, you can't ignore the fact that most if not all of the components of some of your buds were made in China. So in that respect you can't really run away from Chi-Fi.

True that. Can't disagree.

Does anyone know a thin donut foam that does not stretch and fall off quickly (as the veclan foams do)????
How are the CRISP foams from Fiio? btw

I want it for the Zen 2.0. Sound great but does not work for me bare naked as many suggest. But it does with a donut foam, and actually sounds great with the Hiegi donuts but they are thick and I wanna try a very thin counterpart (that does not start to fall quickly)

I haven't compared A-B, but I think the CRISP Fiio foams maybe are a little thinner than Hiegi, the bass Fiio foams are probably closer, but the Crisp ones are good in my experience. You might also consider punching your own hole in the Hiegi foams, too.

Waiting eagerly to hear your impressions. Ordered my 2nd pair, Pipebud-SNF from him already. Expecting to have in my hand next or next to next week. Nanofiber diaphragm.
Love them!

So, I’ve never heard any earbuds better:

And I never expected a Full size Can openness that can compete with really top tier headphones. And kill any iem (annihilator hello!).
They boast such a crazily detailed and powerful sound! Also I never expected such an organic timbre! All the instruments (The Succession OST) are so lifelike and real!!!

One biiig question to everyone here:
Where do I find good high quality foam pads for these things? Their driver is quite large -15.4mm DLC, so I suspect the overall diameter is around 17mm
