Why not? Is it made from titanium or some exotic ultrahard material?
Well that was an exaggeration on my part. It's aluminum, compared to plastic or wood, so drilling it is a lot harder and need more specialized tools and drill bits

Aluminium is easy to work with. No need for specialized drill bits. Obviously stone and wood drills won't work though. Hopefully you'll manage to make a great sounding earbud without needing to drill a hole however! 😁👍

Hell has frozen over, as I now like how the FF3, FF3S, and FF5 sound.

What cause this drastic 180 turn? Fiio's K11 R2R. Idk what PFM they put in this device, but it fixes sooo many of the issues I had with Fiio's buds. Soundstage: present, decent width. Vocals: more forward, no longer overpowered by rest of song. Instruments: much more lifelike. Congestion/in your head feeling: gone. It's not perfect and I still have some minor nitpicks, but this is the longest I have ever listened to any of them. The one downside is that bass extension and impact isn't as good as my other sources but the FF3 and FF3S were already pretty bassy so I'm not missing too much and the FF5 responds better to bass EQ through the K11 R2R than the other two do.

Highly recommend that anyone who has warmer buds and want a brighter, more energetic sound to give the K11 R2R a try. But it also doesn't pair as well with brighter buds and if an earbud already has a decently wide stage it will push everything further out so it doesn't seem like the stage is as wide anymore. This experience really makes me want to get a tube amp to see if I have a similar experience with brighter buds through it as a lot of people say the K11 R2R has a tube-like sound. I feel like a fool now for ever doubting that source synergy was a thing but I didn't think this drastic of a change was possible.

Is there any earbud with sub-bass extension as good as Yinmans, but that put deep male vocals a bit more forward or that have a bit more clarity?

The only buds i've tried so far that has similarly good subbass extension as Yinman is 1/ Lrey Aurora 2/ Rikubuds Saber 3. But deep male vocals with a bit more forward + clarity? No idea

Try thin foam or donut?

*crosspost from DIY thread
Hi everyone.
So i'm having a pair of Huayunxin shells

I'm wondering about what drivers to use. I'm on the fence between the 300ohm pet and 400ohm graphene driver

Which one should i pick? I prioritize bass and timbre/mids. Any other rec for the drivers to use are welcomed. Thanks in advance

*Added: i recalled 1 person who used the 130 Bery with this. I wonder how does it perform
I have tried both drivers in another shell from Huayunxin, wind chime, and as far as i know both it and the one you want to pick are to the same or very similar internally.

Personally, i don't think this shell matches very well with any of these drivers, 400 ohms graphene likes lots of air, and the air flow in this shell will not cut it.
As for 300 ohms blue pet, they're more versatile in my opinion, they operate well with moderate or restricted air flow, and should work in this shell, though, i didn't liked how they sounded in wind chime, the midbass was too loose and treble wasn't elevated (as for my preference).
Later when using wind chime with 120 LCP i discovered this shell lips tends not to seal well with the driver, so you have to put something in it to make it seal, or glue it, so this may have affected the results.

Both 300 ohm blue pet and 400 graphene are among my favorites, and i think they are incredible drivers, but not in this very especific shell.

I will add that, i from some photos on Huayunxin newest driver, it seems they tuned their drivers to be used with their shell, so it should sound good togheter. Don't know if it does apply to their other drivers though. And that driver is very expensive also.

Gotcha. Then i'll research on some drivers that doesn't need as much air vent instead. I'll skip the 2 drivers with the bell shell.

Thanks, I wanted to try the Auroras, but the shipping is kinda the same price as the earbuds themselves.

I have, but it only removes some of the warmth and male vocals still seem pretty laid-back compared to other earbuds; they blend in with the background.
