Concise Multi-IEM Comparison (FINAL UPDATE March. 1st, 2013)

BA-200's isolation is okay, not particularly good or bad but better than S4.. It should be fine unless you are are in a very noisy factory or gun range. BA200 is the best sounding out of those you have listed, which is also one of the best in its price range.

How does the isolation of the BA-200 compare to the SE215? (SE215 isn't that good but just for isolation sake)

SE215, as well as most of the Shure SE series (SE3xx,4xx,5xx and 8xx), has some of the best isolation among IEM, custom and universal included. In comparison, BA200 isn't quite as isolated.

If I were to estimate, I'll say S4 is under -20dB in isolation. BA-200 should be around -23~-26dB, while SE215 is over -30dB.

Hi, what would you recommend as an upgrade from the Sony MH1 ? EPH-100 ? GR01 ? RE400 ?

Thanks :)

If you like the warm sound signature of the mh1, the eph-100 is a solid upgrade especially for the price.

Hi, do they worth the €100 gap ?

I like the MH1 but I want something more comfortable, with a regular cable. I mean not flat and J cord. About sound, I would like something more detailed. Maybe a little less warm than the MH1. I found the soundstage already pretty good.

I had Sony XBA-4, but i really hate their metallic sound. I also had Bose QC20 but sound was very flat, rubbish for the price. I also have some Bose IE2, they sound not as good as the MH1 but they are so much more comfortable. This is the kind of comfort I would like to find.

Thanks and sorry for my bad English

I think Jvc fxt90 will be a good upgrade if you want less warmth and more detail.

  Westone 3 :)

Westone 3 is, as far as my opinion goes, the worst of Westone with boomy uncontrolled bass and overly bright treble. Westone 4 / W40 however is pretty good, and closer to the sound signature of MH1. But if you are not willing to spend so much, DUNU DN-900 is a pretty good choice. EPH-100 isn't bad either, but it is more to the fun side of thing.

Hello ClieOs, how do you think about the XBA-30's sound?

Haven't listened to XBA-30 before.

hi Clieos, which is better all rounder, GR07 BE or Dunu DN900?

Both are good all-arounder, but I reckon GR07 BE is even better for multi-genre.

I've got the V-sonic GR07's at present and was thinking of an upgrade. I prefer IEM's and was leaning towards hybrid phones but I think these may still be quite expensive. I listen to all types of music, want phones that aren't too bass heavy, have good separation and soundstage, slightly forward mids and clean trebles. source is a Cowon J3 that isn't amped though I will get one of the phones requre it.

Any suggestions folks? Oh yes budget is no more than £300 / $500.
