Upgrade from Gilmore V1
After vanishing from this place for a few years, and being relatively content with my current setup, I seem to be making small steps back into the headphone world. First it was re-acquiring my DT880s I sold ages ago. Now I'm wondering if there's a better way to drive them and my K271s. ...- ReDVsion

Multichannel: Revo 5.1 or Delta 410?
...initial reaction was to recommend the Revo 5.1, I thought I'd check around a bit. I did come across the Delta 410, which while being an older card *does* have standard RCA connectors, and is close to the same price. I don't know if anyone here has compared these cards, but regardless, which...- ReDVsion

USB/firewire DAC/soundcard equivalent to...
I'm seriously considering ditching my whole PC and just going for a Mac Mini with an external soundcard or USB DAC. Problem is, I'm very attached to my AP192 soundcard, and don't want to have to sacrifice the audio quality I enjoy now. My question is how much would it cost me to get an external...- ReDVsion

Sonic Impact T-Amp w/ Alesis Monitor Two's?
I don't anticipate people having heard this combo, but I would like to know if the T-Amp ought to be suitable as an amp for a pair of Alesis Monitor Two's (4ohms impedance, 90db sensitivity). Has anyone used the T-Amp with studio monitors? Will it have a decent amount of power for these speakers?- ReDVsion

Project Phonobox or Bellari VP129?
I've got a Project II turntable which I'm going to fit with a Grado Prestige Red cart in the near future, and I'm wondering which of these stages would match best with the combo. I've heard great things about the Bellari, but I also heard that it works best with more neutral-sounding carts, and...- ReDVsion

Speakers/Preamp question...
Does anyone see any reason why I shouldn't use the pre-out on a Gilmore V1 for a pair of Blue Sky Mediadesk 2.1 monitors? I could use them balanced straight out of my soundcard, but there are couple of reasons that I don't want to: 1. I have 2 sources, and need to be able to switch between...- ReDVsion

Inexpensive amp with 2 inputs/1 out?
I simply can't afford a GS-1 (although I would love to have one), but I still need an amp with dual input and a loop out or pre-out (preferably the latter). I was considering re-purchasing a Gilmore V1 but am open to other suggestions. The amp will be used with a pair of AKG K271s and possibly a...- ReDVsion

Lusting for previous equipment?
It occurrs to me that some of the gear I sold off in my eariler days on head-fi I am now looking at buying again. I rekindled my love of the DT880s at the Ft. Worth meet after having listened to them out of the Raptor. In addition to this I'm starting to monitor the Amps FS forum for a Gilmore...- ReDVsion

Connecting turntable to AP192?
I'd like to be able to connect my turntable to my M-Audio Audiophile 192 simply so I wouldn't need to worry about getting an amplifier with 2 sets of inputs. Would this degrade sound quality too terribly? Would it be a direct pass-through or would the signal go through an A/D conversion?- ReDVsion

HA!
...collection is as trippy as ever. I could go on about these, but I would much rather get back to listening. I'm not selling my DT531s... yet. I still think they'll be nice for a change of pace. But I've finally found *my* headphone. There's no way in hell these are going back to headroom now.- ReDVsion

Received Rockhopperaudio M-cubed demo unit today...
And it's been an interesting experience, to say the least. Going from being totally underwelmed and, well, disappointed with the AD8610 opamps, to saying "Wow... I didn't know my DT531s could do that" with the current combo I've got going. Right now I'm using a pair of OPA631s with an AD8065 for...- ReDVsion

Studio monitors for music listening?
I was considering purchasing the Blue Sky MediaDesk 2.1 system for a speaker setup for college ($500) after listening to them at a guitar center and liking what I heard. Very recently I set up my father's Alesis Monitor Two's in my room (not the best room environment for them... but still), and...- ReDVsion

Warm-sounding solid state amps?
I've heard of the Perreaux SXH-1 being a relatively "tubey" sounding solid state headphone amplifier, but are there any others that fit this description without actually being a tube amplifier? And please don't tell me that I should just buy a tube headphone amplifier, I know that already .- ReDVsion

Best soundcard for Linux?
I've started using linux more and more these days (and am considering making my own LiveCD based on Arch), and while I know it's certainly not preferable for anything music-wise, I'd like to find a good soundcard that will work with the OS (especially considering my 0404 was giving me problems...- ReDVsion

Aah... it's about time...
I finally, FINALLY got the E-Mu 0404 I was wanting. I sold my Delta AP2496 a good 6 months back, and in the meantime, I was using an SBLive I had laying around (hey, it was better than onboard...). I'm slowly starting to remember what I was missing. Slowly, because I have a much harder time...- ReDVsion

Channel imbalance in my Bada PH-1...
I recently purchased a Bada PH-1 from another head-fier, and while I am really digging the sound of the unit there is a noticeable discrepancy in the volume levels of the left/right channels. My hearing in my left ear is not as good as it is in the right, but I can still tell that the amp is...- ReDVsion

Bada PH-1 Tubes?
I just purchased a Bada PH-1 from another head-fier, and while I don't intend to have to replace the tubes anytime soon I would like to have some ready when I do. Does anyone know what kind of tubes are used in this headphone amplifier and where I can purchase them?- ReDVsion

What's the point of the foam on the back of the DT531s?
I was removing hair from my DT531s earlier today (driver buzzing) and it for some reason never occurred to me until now that the DT531s have foam on the back of the earcup. Being the curious person that I am, I take them out and have a listen. I really don't hear all that much of a...- ReDVsion

Does the K271 sound good with both metal and electronic music?
Maybe it's because I don't have the proper amplification anymore, or maybe I just really *need* to have something to spend my money on, but none of my cans are really doing it for me right now. I love the K240S for it's midrange, but it's bass and lack of soundstage are a fault often times. The...- ReDVsion

Good, dry-sounding amp for the AKG K240S?
I'm thinking that after I get my DT531 setup complete I'll want a (cheaper) setup to go with a set of K240s. I don't think a PPX3 will be an ideal matchup with the K240S (the K240S already has recessed trebles and a pronounced midrange, and I've read the PPX3 has similar qualities). I'm thinking...- ReDVsion

Anyone who prefers the SR225 to the MS2?
I'm curious, because while the MS2s sound great, if I crank the volume up at all there's just too much brightness in the midrange. But I'm worried about going to the SR225 because the MS2s do so many things well... do the 225s fix any of the problems I have with the MS2s midrange? Am I just not...- ReDVsion
