Earbuds Round-Up

Ok. I'll take one for the team and get a Qigom diy on my next purchase.

And thanks for the detailed explanation. It's good to know that I picked some quality donuts right off the bat! I was using my Vido's last night(I forgot how good these sound) and was thinking these would be perfect with a little more bass. So that's cool that foams are like tips for iem's. So i guess that would be called foam rolling?

Anyways thanks again for the info. You're appreciated
Thanks. I'm going to take this foams discussion just a bit further.

@samandhi mentions how foams actually filter out the high frequencies which in effect appears to increase the bass. It's a very good post.

I followed up on his post with my thoughts about using foams from the same source and batches for consistent density.

And finally, I had made foam density measurements which show that certain brands of foams have better quality control than cheap no name foams.

Ok, I admit this may be over the top, but it never hurts to have more information than not.

It's not over the top at all. This is gonna be allot of interesting reading and I love that. And I thank you.

I just ordered those donuts and the Qigom 32ohm diy. I'm really interested in his 300ohm builds. He says that they can run off of a smart phone due to their high sensitivity(108dB). And since I don't have an amp(well I have cx31993 dongle) I'm a little weary whether how well my phone, which has a 3.5mm jack, and my couple old daps, will be able to drive them properly. I'm guessing not and proper amplification is needed. Which I'm looking at the duok u3 for an amp.

But anyways I'll let the thread know how they sound when I get them and spend sometime with them.

My last build with Smabat shells.
I don't think that Lin (owner of Smabat) listens to them before putting them up for sale. Even his drivers are not good with these shells (female poison, ear bleeding, too shouty... you name it)
In the end... I'm glad I saved the money I spent on the M5pro.
BTW, I use 64ohm comp TI, this after several failed attempts with other drivers.

And I got the yincrow x6 in today. First impressions: I'm no longer going to side grade with all the $2 and $5 buds out there. There's some great sounding ones for those prices for sure, but I've never heard an actual soundstage on flats before the x6. So it's only onwards and up now. If anyone has any recommendations where I should go next id appreciate it.

Thinking about the diy's from the members here, or get into diy myself.

Something landed at my door today... Nobunaga Labs' Uguisu. I'm listening to these guys right now, straight out of the box (with foams on) and I am truly impressed.

From the few posts I've read about the Uguisu in this thread, they are well liked and for the extremely short time I've been listening to them, now I know why.

Purchased through Amazon Japan with direct shipping to the US. Since everyone is so used to cheap or free shipping from AE, don't freak at the shipping cost. I'm just glad to be able to order from Amazon Japan without having to use a 3rd party shipping / forwarding company.
