Yincrow Rhino arrived today.
First short listen impression is very positive.
Bass is decent, mids are clear with good voices and highs are well extended. Maybe a little bit bright for some, but I like it. But maybe I am an exeption, still liking the Yincrow RW -1000 :)

So, there is bass! That's nice.

Do you also have rw2000? If so, are Rhino and rw2000 close soundwise?

Ok, I can solder. Beginner to intermediate level, but still... Can you please explain me how to achieve near TOTL for $20? thx
The easiest driver to tune is the 150 Ohm Blue Glue driver or the 32Ohm Red Dot. I can give you the links later if you are interested. My lunch break is almost over and I don’t have the time. I personally like both of them a lot, but the 150 is a bit higher fidelity IMO.

Howdy folks, it has been a very long time.

My janky prototype today based on the 300ohm LCP drivers. I attempted to make MMCX buds, but cannot get the MMCX connector all the way inside, so I end up with this odd contraption.

The best way to describe the sound of this one is like listening to a modern IEM with large soundstage. Technical performance is around what you can get from IEM around AFUL P5, Orchestra Lite up to Dunu SA6II, at most. It lacks the treble extension, though nuances do come through decently, perhaps more so than the likes of P5.

Bass does not slam very hard since it lacks bass quantity, but the bass attacks are quite tight, and the bass decay is actually decent. There is a sense of scale when listening of skyrim main theme.

Might revisit these drivers in the future with longer internal wiring. This MMCX build was a nightmare.

With the right drill it will turn out fine, at the moment I don't have a caliper with me to measure.
For this driver, I recommend the classic MX500 shell

Anyone know how to get drivers out of the stock MX500 grills they come in when you order em? Doesn't leave a lot of room for customization
There are 2 ways I know of. First, be aware the drivers are probably glued in, rather than just press fit, so be careful to make a clean extraction of the driver.

1. Use flush cut diagonal cutters and cut slits around the edge of the 'grill' then use needle nose pliers to bend back the plastic until the driver is free to remove.

2. If you plan to try saving the 'grill' then use flush cut diagonal cutters and gently but firmly hold the round portion (voice coil housing) of the driver below the circuit board and pry the driver out. You need to be sure not to squeeze too hard on the voice coil housing or you can change the shape of the housing (circular to oval, or denting the housing) and that may pinch the voice coil damaging the driver.

I've used both methods with success, but YMMV.

@Rary gave this simple 150BG tuning in the DIY thread. You could use that as a starting point and further tweak the tuning if required.

Again, details on how to set the MMCX female connector to the MX500 shell or PK shell.

Here are the things to buy:
1. You had better buy MMCX female connectors M3 with the soldered wires. Select A of color.

2. You must buy all. You need to drill out until a 2.5mm hole.

3. You must use an M3 tap to cut the thread into the hole. Select TiN Coated of Color, M3x0.5 of Thread Diameter and 1pc of Pitch.

Here are the making steps:
1. You need to drill out a 2.5mm hole because MMCX connectors use an M3 thread.

2. You need to use an M3 tap to cut the thread into the hole.

3. You can screw in the MMCX female connector M3 with the soldered wire.

4. Finally, you may want to drill the holes for the faux vents in the MX500 shell with a 1 mm drill.

Alright, this is one of the most helpful videos on earbuds out there, period! Thank you @AWSMDanny - I've been waiting for a YouTube reviewer to focus more on earbuds for a while, and you've filled that niche very nicely. Cheers to more bud reviews in the future!

Thank you I appreciate the support. This video was basically 6 months in the making. I am very new to earbuds still but it was refreshing to discover them. Great option for Hi-Fi listening. I also have a couple of new stuff on the way so keep an eye out for a few reviews soon. As long as I have new earbuds to talk about they will have a place in my channel.
