Sorry, I completely missed the 1 cm you stated. That sounds like a QC issue.
Yes, it’s a QC issue, not intentional. Just wanted to make sure there was no technical reason to send it back and get it recabled, which I have the option of doing. I figured it’s only an aesthetic issue, but just wanted to know if performance could be impacted for some reason I wasn’t aware of. Thanks for the responses, everyone!

Was it expensive? I'd personally send it back even if it makes no sound difference.

Yes, it was, and having thought about it some more, I think I’m going to send it back, since I have that option. It’s a big enough purchase that it’ll bother me if I don’t get it fixed.

It’d bother me too if somethings wrong with qc on an expensive item. Cheaper items, I wouldn’t care. I’m surprised your bud made it past qc though. Hope the fix goes well :)

All my buds in $100-150 range

Anti-Clockwise from bottom right corner:

Apollo Gold Story with Black Mamba Cable ($116)
Newbsound Legend ($135)
All Ears Kharon 2.2 ($141)
Highersound Neptune ($150)
Rikubuds Grand Rider 2 ($157)

The best balanced bud among these are the All Ears Kharon 2.2.

All of them have one thing common - incredibly well tuned bass in all of them, just subtle variances of quantity.

Here you can order from here. He's from Philippines, so shipping will be a problem.
I sent a message to the seller asking about cost and shipping to California. He responded: "The standard termination of 3.5mm and 2.5mm is $136, 4.4mm AEC is $140. Post shipping cost $12" This sounds very reasonable. Can you say a little more about imaging, soundstage, detail, and resolution? Any treble peaks?

Okay. Muse 4.4mm AEC $86, post shipping $12 and paypal charges $6. Total $104

He said this one was better for jazz, which is the genre I listen to most.

Some highlights on these buds:

Grand Rider 2 - Most powerful and voluminous bass with prominent textures
Neptune - Most full, well textured, and forward mids
Legend - Most spacious sound, biggest stage, and most forward treble
Kharon 2.2 - Best Balance among all three frequencies, note weight, and soundstage expanse
Gold Story - Well, cannot really be compared to the above ones as they are in a different league...but it has all over a very fun well-rounded sound that is easy to like. Strikes a fine balance between musicality and technicality, leaning slightly towards musicality.

Regarding bass power, this is how they rank:
Grand Rider 2 > Gold Story > Neptune = Legend > Kharon 2.2

Regarding Mid and Treble I will update later here, with edits.
