ClieOS,
what are the Astrotec AM-800 and DX-60 like?

AM-800 is warm and lush, everything you would expect from an IEM with wooden housing IEM. It is better than AM-90, but not by a lot and still belongs to more or less the same mid-fi category. DX-60 also has a warm and smooth sound that is a bit laid back and pretty much on entry level.

ClieOS, I saw an entry at your blog about the new VSONIC VC1000, with a picture. Does that mean you'll be reviewing them soon?

For now, no. I need to review that few VSONIC I have at hand first (GR07 Bass / MK2, VC02, and UU2). My hands are already tied up as they are.

I think the difference is in the cable: silver wires give it more treble presence

One side of my GR07 has burnt out, but I can still compare the two by listen to them side by side in each ears. It really isn't just having more / less treble. The MK2 sounds much more forwarded than the original GR07, especially on the mid. It is definitely a warmer tone compared to the more neutral and laid back GR07 and not nearly as specious. I don't think of MK2 as an improvement over GR07, but it is not a downgrade either. Technically wise, they two are comparable. But personally I prefer the original GR07 a little more because of its neutrality and soundstage. Those who prefer a sweeter vocal might find MK2 better though.

Soundstage: GR01 > MH1C > RE400 (GR01 is noticeably wider)
Sibilance: GR01 > RE400 = MH1C (none has any real sibilance issue)
Bass: MH1C > RE400 >= GR01 (the later two are closer to neutral)
Fullness: MH1C >= RE400 > GR01 (none is thin in anyway)
