Getting my Nuforce Icon Mobile mic input to work
Hi all, I've got my icon mobile and have my steelseries gaming headset plugged into the appropriate inputs, but the mic just doesn't pick anything up, although the audio comes through just fine. I know for sure that the mic is functioning just fine as it works when I plug it straight into...- Captivate

Underwhelmed by MS-1: Do they get better over time?
You guys are tempting me to get some SR60's or SR80's. I'm going to be damn poor. I'm already ordering a NuForce Icon Mobile on monday. This hobby just gets more and more expensive. It's like my obsession with guitars except it's cheaper to acquire good headphones, which makes it even worse...- Captivate

D1001 vs. M50 vs. DT770/80
Comfort? Denons sound like they're for you. I can wear mine for hours on end and still be fine. The sound is great and there isn't an overwhelming amount of bass either. I'm currently listening to my FLAC System of a Down and it sounds really good. The instruments are separated quite well. It's...- Captivate

Help Choosing New Headphones
Isolation isn't great for the Denons. You won't be using them on the subway. They're good enough in the isolation and leakage department for the library though. Just don't crank it. I'm currently using my D1001's in the library of my university and nobody seems to mind. Seriously though, I...- Captivate

Headphones in Canada
Selection in Canada is very limited, and because of the economy/money conversion rate, quite expensive too. I bought Denon D1001's for $180 w/ tax at bay bloor radio. It was $90 USD on headroom, but with the $30 USD shipping and duties on top of that, it came out to about the same price in CAD...- Captivate

HD280 vs Beats by Dre
The Dre's are definitely comfy, but the SQ just isn't up there. I also walked by bestbuy today and tried the QC3's(saw them as I was walking around). The have a very fake kind of sound that just didn't sound right.- Captivate

Benefit of DAC + Amp for Denon AH-D1001
Hey all! I'm kinda noobish and new to the headphone world as well as this forum. But I was wondering what kind of benefits I could expect to gain from using a DAC & amp such as the iBasso D2 Boa. I'm running my Denon's straight out of my laptop right now and they sound pretty darn good already.- Captivate

Do you always buy the most expensive phones you can afford?
Only if it sounds good enough, will I spend my max limit. I doubt I'll ever go over like $500 though. My GAS(guitar acquisition syndrome) is much stronger than my headphone obsession.- Captivate

Can you enjoy lossy (compressed) music through your favorite headphones?
Of course I can enjoy lower grade music. It's the music that makes the headphones worth listening to, not the other way around.- Captivate

Is the economy affecting your sound?
Equipment in Canada is relatively expensive, but even more so when the conversion from USD to CAD is like 1:0.8. Regardless, I still bought my Denon AH-D1001K's retail here for $180 CAD. I figured that instead of saving a few bucks ordering from the US, I'd just buy from retail to help out my...- Captivate

study shows that young people PREFER mp3s to uncompressed music
I agree. Although I'm 18 myself and love high quality music, most people just don't appreciate good quality music. Most teens I know would be satisfied with a 128kbps mp3.- Captivate

Denon AHD1001:A Beginners Review
Great, thorough review. I just got my D1001's today and I'm just going to burn them in with regular usage. I'll write up a review later on after the buyer's high has worn off and the headphones are burned in properly. For me, what makes these headphones so amazing is the amount of clarity and...- Captivate

denon d1001 isolation
I just got my Denon D1001's today and used them in the subway on the way home. The isolation is much better than any open cans, but it's still not amazing. I could definitely still hear the rather loud rumble of the subway, but they seem to work a bit better than my stock IEMs that came with my...- Captivate

Best headphones for laptop without amplifier : HD650 K242HD K702 ?
What I find interesting is that you're just "satisfied" with 125 db. Seriously, you don't need something that loud. I don't even go past 12 on my computer volume.- Captivate

HD-415 Vs HD-555
Overpowering? I'm using my HD415's right now(just straight out of my laptop) and I find the bass to be a decent and acceptable amount. It's got the right amount of bass for most genres except for bass heavy stuff like hip hop or other urban genres(I'm thinking NAS). Of course... I'm a...- Captivate

Bose Around Ear Review
I think your review shares a very valuable point that a lot of people miss. Bose's sound is targeted towards the general public who just want a pleasant sound.
