Will the difference be huge?

im a huge fan of rich sound and powerful (but not too powerful bass), i love my 415's but im looking for more, will i find it in the HD-555's? the price has lowered considerably around here.

Oh! and hai, glad i joined the community :3!

ps: i use them with my ipod/X-fi sound card/AV 215 amplifier, mostly with my ipod though.

Bumping is not allowed. Be warned. Can't be of help myself here; haven't owned any Sennheiser phones.

The HD555 will have very little bass. The HD485 has much more bass, and isn't overpowering in any way. You can get them on ebay for $70 NIB. Hope that helps. Plus the mid-range is very inviting and lush. Perfect for female vocals, especially JPop.

EDIT: The HD555 is audiophile grade and the HD485 is consumer grade. The HD485 still sounds verry good though.

i do love details in music...well, the bass on my 415's can be very overpowering (makes me feel dizzy at times), theoretically how much bass do you think is lost from a percentage view compared to the 415, because it may be a good thing.

Overpowering?

I'm using my HD415's right now(just straight out of my laptop) and I find the bass to be a decent and acceptable amount. It's got the right amount of bass for most genres except for bass heavy stuff like hip hop or other urban genres(I'm thinking NAS).

Of course... I'm a noob and these are the only headphones I have at the moment.(although I'll be investing in a set of Denon AH-D1001's very soon).

You say 'rich sound'. The HD555 will not provide that. The HD485 will do that better indeed.

Im confused... ~x~

i listen mainly to rock/pop/new world.

what do you think will perform best on these?

The HD485 would be better for Rock. The HD485 is verry mid-range oriented and will be good for pop and other vocal oriented genres. They do have good bass with impact and heft. They have decent trasient response also, though not Grado quick.

Hmm, i was thinking about the grados, but i really hate high Highs! i can barely handle high pitched sounds, sennheiser headphones never sounded high pitched to me, so grados is out of the question...ill mull this over lol.
