    R.I.P.

The five stages of equipment death greif: · Denial (maybe I can fix it) · Anger (Why did the stupid thing break?!) · Bargaining (Maybe I can just work around it...) · Depression (I miss my stuff) · Upgrade (Oooo, shiny!)

    R.I.P.

Today we (the royal we) mourn the unfortunate passing of one of the central pillars of life. It is my unfortunate honor to inform myself that fate has called my V6s to a better place. A place where headphones may be truely happy. Such a cruel game is life; to tragicaly rip from the ears such...

    Do You trust Mail-in-Rebate?

What makes me suspicious is just how damn complicated and full of loopholes the rebate procedure is. First: In the age where you can do just about anything online, they want you to mail it in. Why do this other than to annoy people into not sending in rebates? Second: They don't accept...

    Black or silver components?

Brushed aluminum or steel looks best to me, or a black ceramic glazed finish. So I suppose that means silver most of the time because I never see the glaze on anything new that isn't priced in the upper stratosphere.

    A scam?

Never give your info out over the phone unless you initiate the call. Somebody likely pulled a printout with the site's name on it from your trash and decided to try their luck on getting your CC number from you.

    RIAA hit list

Now, will the RIAA take it all the way to the Supreme Court and risk getting the whole law tossed out (I'm sure companies like Echostar/DirecTV and the DVD Forum would just love that)? I would think there would be pressure from other groups to let this battle go instead of risking the...

    help with WinXP IE

There are two different types of messenger included with XP, both equally useless. #1, the more annoying of the two is the Windows Messenger Service. This can be used to popup advertisements or used/abused to send network-wide messeges using the command prompt (example: announcing server...

    What a crappy semester!

I'm likely gonna end up with a 3.41 for this semester. Not too shabby for a major in Physics. What makes me mad is I have a C in English. Of all subjects, why English? I've gotten A's in all my other English classes, where I could actually write. This time they decided to do something...

    Are they kidding me ?

MS has a lot to lose with this gambit. They are banking that flash memory manufaturers would rather pay the fee than have people install drivers to read the volumes. But, how can MS tout the newest version of windows as a highly compatible multimedia platform if they don't support whatever new...

Clicky is preferred (I have an IBM model M for my desktop), but laptop keyboards are decent as well. I just require there to be a decent amount of initial resistance to the keystroke.

    best vacuumer for under $250?

My parents recently purchased a Hoover Windtunnel Premium or something like that (not the bagless type), which was pretty much top of the line. The first time through the house filled up a bag because our old one had left so much dirt and dust behind. It had two things on it that I really liked...

"The Equivalent of a Deep, Relaxed Sleep in Just 25 Minutes" BS or does it work?

There is no substitute for real sleep. Power naps may make your body feel better but your mind doesn't relly refresh until it has had a good cycle or so of very deep REM sleep. I think the wonderful placebo effect in these recordings will get you to sleep quicker, and possibly make you "feel"...
