HI All, Just a few words to say I'm Still very Happy With my HFI-2400 . I enjoy them more and more each day since I got them ( I spent now about 100 Hours listening music through my headphone ) . First I tried from my Computer headphone Output then with a Fiio E17 ( great improvement compared to my computer headphone output IMO ..especially for the price) and recently I found a used Schiit Asgard so I keep My E17 as DAC ( and mobile DAC/AMP ) and use Asgard as desktop amp.  I received it a few hours ago and  I found that my HFI-2400 sounds perfectly plugged to ASGARD which seems to go very well with my Utrasone qualities and flaws .  Anyone else experienced Asgard/Ultrasone union ?

IMO , HFI-2400 is a very very good headphone. I spent time to hear some celebrities like Grados, Sennheiser HD598 , AKG Q701  or Beyer DT880 in order to choose a good christmas gift for my father  and I think HFI-2400 can easily compete with all these stars.  I'm a bit surprised when I read to recommendation thread and rarely see these cans advised. Maybe there're too expensive in the US ?

The HFI-2400 are actually cheaper than a lot of the models you listed in the US (MSRP is $330 USD, they run around $180-$220 USD most of the time, for comparison the DT 880, HD 598, and K701 tend to be around $250-$275). I have no idea why they aren't as popular. I agree that they're a very good competitor for their price and very good entry to hi-fi audio, along with the SR-225 I don't think there's a better option at $200 if you want brand-new (my understanding is that Grado cans are massively marked up in the EU (I know they are in Japan)).

here in France, the Grado SR225 is priced 275E ( 350 $ ! )  when HFI-2400 , HD598 or K701 are a bit under 200 Euros (260$) . DT880 a bit more expensive ( 230 E  so nearly 300 $ ) and Q701/HD650 cost near 400$ .

That's the reason why I choosed Ultrasones as long as I presumed that HFI-2400 soung signature matched my tastes  .

I think Ultrasone HFI-2400 is really an underrated headphone which bring great pleasure to listening.

Nah, they're priced right alongside the other big companies. I think it's just because you need to have a very particular taste to like them. I always recommend Ultrasones to bassheads.

I'm a basshead for sure but Ultrasone can't be reduced IMO to a basshead can .. When music gives no bass, cans don't create it . Schubert string quartets , Keith Jarret trio, Devendra banhart sound both beautiful to my ears through HFI-2400.

isn't "Utrasone = basshead can" sometimes a platitude ?

It's more of something to help newer users to understand traits that products from the brand can handle properly.

But of course that many models are versatile enough to be used with all genres.

Of course I don't recommend them to ONLY bassheads; I don't consider myself a basshead (I usually EQ the bass down) but I still love them. They will definitely satisfy bassheads, though. You can't deny the huge amount of bass that they all deliver.

That's right !  But it seems that this fact reduce too often Ultrasones to basshead cans for EDM or Hip-hop. That's not fair In my opinion.

Not only a basshead can indeed.  I love EDM, dubstep, hip-hop, trance etc. but also listen to other genres.  Was rocking my Opeth library earlier with the PRO750s...Sweeeeeet!!!

Indeed.  The HFI-680s are also very underrated.  Most folks skip them and go HFI-580---> HFI-780

Bass head cans?!?! My sig pros and Ed 10s are very shy of being considered bassy in my opinion. After the recable my Ed 10s are very punchy however, but stock I'd say not at all.

Also I wouldn't consider my pro 2900's bass heavy either. I've gotten more punch and depth from the hd 650.

Is pro 750 a good upgrade from my HFI-2400? many differences ( other than closed/open ) between these two cans ?    I found a good price for a used pro750 near my home and I don't known if it's a good idea to spend my money for it :D .
