I just did a review of the HPT990 over in the Takstar thread.  I love the sound and build quality of these.   I see you have the Somic too.  That'll be an interesting pair to compare to.

Returning them will effectively extend the warranty, but the cables are user replaceable. As mentioned above there are a couple of pins at the end of the cable, no need to go into the innards. I replaced mine with the Jaben twisted cables and it made a big difference.

I don't know much about fakes, but would the packaging be faked as well as the accessories and phones themselves? Seems like a lot of trouble, but when making money is involved, I guess anything is possible. In addition, do "fakes" and "clones" refer to the same thing? If they do, they might be worth it, if they are identical except that they aren't made by the "right" company. Take, for example golf club clones. Its sometimes difficult to tell them apart from the genuine club, performance wise. Of course, if headphone/ earphone fakes/clones are inferior in performance and/or build quality, that would be a different story. Has anyone here bought fake earphones? Is it possible to buy fakes, and not even realize it because they were such a good copy?

My gut so no to these Sennheiser IE80 on ebay (Too good to be true). But how can these guys manage to get 100% positive feedback all the time if they are fake IEMs?

Do you notice they ship from China? The seller also sold many IE8, I think there are fake.

Those are regular prices. In fact, in the two years since SE215's debut, it has NEVER went over $99. And it goes below $99 quite often. 
 
Please know what you are posting and at least do some research. Sites like camelcamelcamel, or just a google shop search, would help a great deal (no pun intended).

Yeah it's true. ONce in a while you will find the SE215 on sale for $85ish.  I returned them though, very well built but almost a basshead IEM for me.

I did read your post .. and if you look in my avatar I have owned the tf10's and removed cables numerous times its really nothing to worry AT ALL.
