The combination of an insult ("passed arithmetic") and some model numbers do not form a logical basis for any conclusions.

Sorry, that was out of line (I come from an urban background, where one communicated in insults, so it often comes out spontaneously, but it is inappropriate with strangers, and I apologize).

The model numbers were just demonstrating that the 700 and 800 are not upgraded versions of the 650.

A while ago, Hadi and I were talking how the conventional Sennheiser laid back sound seem to work well with “older generation” music that tend to be medium to slow paced Jazz or Classic Rock, yet not so well for the newer generation music that’s mostly Alternative, Pop, or Indie music that people listen to these days. I think the HD598 is a correct step to reach out to the newer generation of music listeners. It’s signature is very easy to like, reaching a good middle line between the old Sennheiser sound to the newer, more fun, more engaging Sennheiser sound. Now Sennheiser needs to make an updated HD650 that combine the HD598′s signature with the HD650′s refinement.

It's still a popular product is exactly why it needs to be updated to match the technology in their newer products.

If you passed arithmetic, you can see that HD800 and HD700 are not updates for HD600 - they are higher in the line.  HD650 is an update for HD600, but that was a long time ago.

If the same marketing guys still work for Senn, it could be HD650II or if not then HD650A or HD650Plus (e.g. HRT) or even HD660.

BTW, if you still don't believe me, just check list prices:

HD700 - $1000
HD650 - $500
HD598 - $250

So the 700 and 800 are not updates of the 650...

The price up until about 6 months ago for brand new HD650 was DAILY $360. Good deals brought down to the price to around the $320 range. Used HD650 would regularly go for $250. Sennheiser tightened the reigns and the price shot back up with lots of promos and discounts from merchants. I think we're now seeing Sennheiser loosening the reigns and prices coming back down a bit. I don't think this means new HD650 revision.

Amazon price dropped on HD650 from $495 to $465.

I hope it's a spinning top that drop's below $400 with a $50 Gift card.

That'd be great.

A tad off topic but wow I missed an opportunity. Could have had a $600 7.1 Yamaha receiver for $300 plus $160 dollar newegg gift card..... It was an error they sent me a coupon before they removed the gift card bonus from the item...... thought about it too long and they fixed it. . Receivers make good HP amps.

They made an error last week in the same way I got a $600 center channel speaker for $125 bucks. :D

Beyer T1 for $950 on Amazon
confused_face_2.gif

Amazon.com is out of stock on the T1.

The other prices shown at Amazon for new T1s begin as low as $899, currently, but they are sold by Amazon marketplace resellers, most of which are not Beyerdynamic-authorized resellers.

If you want a valid U.S. warranty, check this list of Beyerdynamic-authorized U.S. resellers, before you buy.
