Going to do an update, because I really do think I'm pretty happy with what I have now. To the point that I can see myself getting rid of some of these in the near future.
1- Tie between LCD2 and Th-900s. Love them both for very different reasons.
2 - Beyer DT 1990 Pro
3 - Kennerton Vali. If I could get the ear pads to be more comfortable I'd rate these higher.
4 - MrSpeakers Ether
5 - Hifiman 400i
6 - ZMF Ori
7 - TH-610
8 - Audioquest Nighthawk
9 - Beyer DT 770 Pro 80 ohm
10 - Senn Over Ear Momentums
11 - HD 650
12 - HD 558
13 - Thinksound ON2
14 - ATH-M40fs

1) THX-00 PH . Go-to phones. Can't get enough of them. Sub bass is insane while staying clean, tight and punchy. So much fun. Soundstage is a little lacking but doesn't deter me from picking these up first. Great for every genre.
2) AQ Nightowls. Love them, but I don't listen to them immediately after any other phones I have. They truly need substantial burn-in time.
3) HD650. My favorite all around HP. Use them mostly for Home Theater now as they're perfect for any type of movie. Surprising they're really good for progressive metal.
4) M1060. I really want to love these and can say I am more every day. Have been burning in 24/7 for past 4 days. Once I swap out the pads and PT mod them, maybe they could rank higher.
5) Sony MDR-1A. I use these strictly for portable use. Paired with DFR on Iphone, they rock it out. The bass is bumped up but I don't find them muddy or bloated but that's me.

1) Focal Utopia
2) Stax L700
3) Stax L300 with L700 pads
7) TH-X00 (sold)

How do the L300 with the L700 pads compare to the L700 and TH-X00? I have the TH-600 which were the precursor so I'd love to hear your opinion on that aswell; I've been thinking about the joining the Stax mafia.

L700 is little more spacious and has better resolution, but I enjoy listening to both equally. L300 with 700 pads is really great value in hi-fi world. Th-X00 has better sub-bass extension with slightly better mid-bass impact but everything else L300 does it better. Timbre, texture, staging, imaging, transparency, speed, less peaky highs etc. Only downside with the L300 is zero isolation (similar to isine20), If you need isolation, AH-D7200 gets you pretty close to L300 in terms of sound signature, and SQ.

I share my batchelor suite with my headphones (most of which are open) so I'm not too worried about isolation :k701smile::k701smile:

Have you heard the L500? Is the L700 worth the difference in price 7 out of 10 times over the L300 plus L700 pads?

How would you compare the primes with aeon?
I prefer the Aeon's in all areas except lower midrange/upper bass. The Aeons have more resolution and balance. With the foam inserts in place, the Aeons are close to perfect in all areas IMO.

AKG K712 Pro
Sennheiser HD598 SE
FiiO EX1 2nd gen
HiFiman RE400a
KZ ZS5
Audio Technica ATH M30x
Audio Technica ATH IM70
Audio Technica E40
Meze 11 neo
VE monk+ special edition blue
Vsonic GR07 BE

some new additions to my previous post.

I am really impressed with the KZ zs5's they sound wonderful. the bass and treble is just so well balanced.
Meze are way down in my list mainly for the comfort issue, i just cant keep them in my ear. the larger than normal tube is very uncomfortable for me but for as long as i can bear to wear them they sound very good, they are just so relaxed sounding.
Vsonic Gr07 be have been a real disappointment. the bass is just nowhere to be found and when its noticeable the quality of bass is below average. i have tried so many ear tips with it, including the foams and sony hybrids nothing works. they do fit very well though and i can barely notice them when i am wearing them (which is very rare). if any one has any suggestions about which tips to try do let me know.
no new additions to headphones so far still waiting for official launch of monoliths here

Updated List, only the top two headphones are used much.

1. Beyerdynamic DT 480 25 ohm(modded)
: These are just amazing, the sound is so natural, transparent, and has a solidity to the sound I just don't get anywhere else. Comfort not the best so not my most used headphone, used for more critical or intense listening sessions. They shine at louder volumes creating absolutely insane dynamics with perfect composure. Pitch-black background gives the sense the sound comes out of nowhere, bass and treble extends the furthest of all my headphones
2. Beyerdynamic Amiron Home: Adore these, my favorite Tesla Beyer and my most used headphone due to their awesome comfort and relaxing, refined, clean, and solid sound. I tend to have long listening sessions and these are ideal, very transparent and I just melt into the sound, amazing for all uses.
3. Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro: Quite like these but completely replaced by the DT 480.
4. AKG K240 Studio Austrian: Really like the mids and musicality on this headphone, treble is a bit too peaky and the bass rolls off, but good tonality.
5. Grado SR-60e: Enjoy these on occasion, fluid sounding but a bit rough up top.
6. Sony MDR-1A: Nice clarity and bass but the timbre is all wrong.
7. Sennheiser PX-95: Cheap portables, not bad but not great either. Super-lightweight, great for portable use.

Time to update again my ranking.... including also cans I have already sold.

Utopia is still my favourite hp, it really has everything I'm looking for, extremely live and dynamic, good timbre, excellent resolution. the only defect, well, you already know, the price...
New second is, incredibly enough given the price, the Denon D7200, vey linear, extended bass, punchy without being boomy, good midrange and highs, IMHO this hp easily beats the HEKv2 to my ears at a fraction of the price. (A note here: I'm using the D7200 with a somewhat unlikely amplifier, a fairly expensive custom 2A3 SE which is 5x the price of the cans, so maybe with other amps YMMV)
Third is HEK v2, since I have the D7200 I find these cans to be a bit too relaxed, very close to being boring.
Fourth HE6, good overall can, but simply not at the same level as the others.
Fourth shared the Stax 507, very natural timbre but lacking bass and liveliness, and with a strong "tunnel" presentation.

1. Focal Utopia
2. Denon AH-D7200
3. Hifiman HEK v2
4. Hifiman HE6 / Stax 507

I'm doing some extensive sessions with the new Abyss Phi, and I will also re-consider my initial impressions on the Sony ZR1, since to a second listening with a different amp I have liked them much more than I remembered.
