the iFrogz pads saw some iFrogz Toxix ones today and they are much shallower than the ones I am using now, might go back to the store and get them, but a bit pricy as a donor simply for pads, still, but as we all know pads can make or break a thing and they seem as shallow as the YHE ones anyhow.
Thanks for the reminder. Then I can use the shell possibly, maybe.

Yeah, Found my blue toxix pads today. They look like they will do a pretty reasonable job, either doubletaped on or with the flange wrapped around the whole pod (perhaps with the cable run through a hole punched in the flange).

Think I'll spring for this set of black pads: http://www.amazon.com/EarPollution-Toxix-Headphones-Gold-EP-TX-GOLD/dp/B001EP86K6

Also i've been thinking about maybe re-stuffing the original pads with a donut of memory foam - trick is, where to get a thin sheet of viscoelastic foam? maybe a set of "as seen on tv" memory foam insoles. Might be too dense tho.

Ah, that does make sense. I'll hit up BigLots some day soon.

fwiw, about the toxix, I decided they are too big. 60mm vs. the 55mm yhd-3 pods.

Considering these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/111521757302

That does help tremendously thanks. Saved me.

AKG K26P / K414P pads are very good fit diameter-wise. ( these are from the  wang-yifei seller on fleabay )
Pic here from a post earlier. I just have them casually mounted ( until I decide to open them or not ) but should fold out the flaps to glue directly to the pad rears and it would bring things closer to the ear for a slightly shallower fit, then fold flaps over the edges of course.
If you want better pictures and/or as close as possible measurements let me know.

Hi All,

Been lurking (kind-of) this thread for a while...late last year someone sent me some ortho drivers to make some cups for. I finished the project up, mailed them back and didn't think about it for a while. Then I started modding T50rp...I like the T50rp driver, but am sure there are other ortho drivers out there worth experimenting with...so I come to you all with hat in hand asking for suggestions. They don't need to come from a  pair of headphones, they can simply be drivers bought alone. That said, I am not averse to pulling apart a pair of cans for their drivers...does anyone have any they would recommend?

These are a little overpriced and they're only SFI's which are really scraping the bottom of the ortho barrel. But it's just an idea.

I actually have a HOK-80 and HOK-80-2 that I'm not overly attached to. Would be willing to let go of both of them.
I think 'Vid' got some really good results from a modded HOK-80-2

Those look suspiciously like the single sided jobs. If they are, they are a bear to deal with

I think the rear side is felt-backed... not sure why a single sided 'dipol' would need that, but I agree... probably worth skipping for the price and trouble.

Never seen the felt backed like that before in any of them I've had ( lots ). Cool stuff! Interesting for sure.

so my T10 doesn't have the "aluminium solder" stickers, what's up with that?

Can I use cardas quad eutectic solder on it?

Also, I'm seeking a YH1: http://www.head-fi.org/t/756032/wtb-wtt-yamaha-yh-1
