Skull Candy FMJ (only paid $10 brand new) but I like the cheap Monoprice earbuds better.

V-Moda crossfades, way too bass heavy for me. Might work for some people but I like hearing the highs and not just all bass.

I got the FMJ's for $50 before I was an audiophile. Right out of the box I knew they didn't sound as good as the cheaper IEM's I was already using. Luckily, Skullcandy's build quality showed its true colors and they fell apart on the first day under normal use, allowing me to return them for a refund.

K271mkii

Sound flat, very low value for the price. Plus the pads are sticky.

AD700's for me, they were my first "audiophile" headphones and while they were a step up from stock they really didn't justify the price and put me off delving deeper into headphones for quite a number of years.

I guess I'm missing the logic on this. You regret purchasing them because an upgrade came out later?

Yes, a bit. I'd rather have the latest and greatest version. I didn't think it was cool to have 2 new releases after the 3.0 within such a short span, but such is the nature of DIY I guess. Dan is pretty clear about the changes being improvements rather than just a different flavor, so I was a bit peeved. Like I said, it won't matter once he releases 3.3 - at that point, everybody with 3.2 will be wondering what they're missing out on and perhaps understand my reaction at least a little bit.

Beats Tour by Dr. Dre for me.  paid $150.  Driver on left side died after 2 months of use.  Although the pair really helped me start this fascination with headphones by telling myself "There must be better than this".

I believe he said he won't be releasing a newer version anytime soon. But I think he trying to get better cables for them.

I can't really say I regret buying a certain headphone. Each where a stepping stone to get me to where I am today. But I guess thinking about it, I would say Bose ae-1 Tri-Ports. They sound good, but for the $150 price tag, I could have done better. Live & learn.

It is interesting on the same names keep poping up in this thread.

Attracted by the retro-style, I bought a brandnew Beyerdynamic DT-48(E). But when received, looks, sound and comfort was terrible.
They stayed in my house for a few hours. I haven't seen or heard them again. They disappeared in the "Twillightzone"!
I won't miss them...
