Fiio FF1. Anyone have this? It would be my first dip into the fiio line. A (proprietary).78mm 2 pin detach cable is a nice feature. Does the sound quality match the features?

It is a beginner earbud. Probably if you own something higher end, no point getting it.

V-shaped, not too technical (quite lowFI sounding), but has a great accessory inclusion. The cable is semi-proprietary, so you need to buy their own Fiio cables or shave off aftermarket 2-pin cables to fit.

Would rate it 3/5.

I agree with the previous posters, especially @baskingshark. FF1 is pretty mediocre, and not a great beginner's bud. I highly recommend this one: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256...dYx92p&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa#nav-specification

If this link doesn't work, go to Anaudiophile store on Aliexpress, and go to Products>Earphones. (Sorry, I couldn't figure out how to copy a picture.)

This is a very rich and warm, but quite detailed wood bud for only $15 for the Deluxe version, which I got. It is almost a baby Yinman 600 in its richness and warmth, but does sacrifice some jaggedness or peakiness in the upper treble, and the overall sound is not as full as the Yinman. But for $15, it's the best beginner bud I have found. From the site:

EP3 uses a very good driver who unfortunately can no longer be found. Fortunately, I have a pair of these drivers.

Very nice. This is what I was hoping to get. A nice honest answer. I'll definitely pass on these. Thank you.

The link worked. I'm all excited about these now. 32ohms at 100db sensitivity. These will probably be my highest impedance/lowest sensitivity bud that I'll have. Hope the phone will drive them ok.

Thank you very much for going above and beyond for a recommendation! I appreciate.

That's great to know! And yeah I can't wait to hear them. Just ordered along with the yincrow x6(never had this one either). I figured the x6 was a safe bet considering the reviews.

I think I have a couple pretty good flats coming!

Leave us some impressions/comparisons after you've had some time with them. People are always asking about budget buds, and I haven't heard the X6. I do have several that I plan to post comparisons on -- whenever I get the time/energy!

Will do. I was already thinking about doing that. Figured it wouldn't hurt the thread if I gave my pretty noobish thoughts. Lol

And when you have the time and energy I'd love to read your comparisons.

Anybody still listen to Yuin earbuds ? (They were in discussion here more than a decade ago... but I've been out of the audiophile circuit for a while..)
I have a pair of PK3's that I still use and enjoy and was wondering if earbud tech has changed since then (2007 ?)
lol, would anyone be able to recommend a similar sounding earbud priced around $30-50?

Here is Yinman 150 and TMusic EP3. Yinman is definitely a tree. If you knock the TMusic cases against each other, the sound of real plastic is heard.

It's an interesting question. I looked at my EP3 carefully. The R and L buds are different colors/shades/grain patterns, as can be seen in the picture. It would be surprising if a manufacturer would go to the trouble of making them that different out of plastic, and then claim it was sandalwood on their website, but what do I know? Also, according the internet, sandalwood is rated at quite a "hard" hardwood, at 1680 on the "Janka scale," and is considered a "highly durable" hardwood to use for flooring, so that could account for the high pitched "hard" sound you hear when knocking them together. https://blog.builddirect.com/hardwood-species-youve-never-heard-of-but-should-sandalwood/

(Looking at your pictures, you may have a different shell from a different manufacturer??)

But for me, what matters is the sound, not necessarily the shell material. I have plastic and metal buds I really enjoy, and I love my wooden Yinman 600s. These EP3 sound great for a $15 bud, and I'm happy with that, whatever they are made of.

I'm pretty sure Fengru is just the Chinese word for 'DIY'. It's not a brand or anything.
