Opinionated article on the music industry and piracy
Hey guys, I wrote an article that I think some of you will find interesting. Let it be said that my argument comes with no supportive market research or data. It's just the opinion on how things look from my perspective and what I think should be done about it. So take it for what it is...- colmustard

Headphone Sightings 2
Quote: Its about not using a highly amp dependent open studio headphone as a portable. It just makes no sense and quite frankly I think it doesn't just make you a hipster, it makes you a very stupid hipster. Get some real portables like some hd-25's or something that was made to wear...- colmustard

D2000 with Recessed Highs.
What kind of business model is that? I can't see how that would be a good idea unless they get them dirt cheap in bulk and want to sell them fast...- colmustard

300$ For Bass
Quote: I don't think the 780s make sense for that. I'd recommend the dt770 even though it's consider bassy, for somebody just getting into hifi it will still work very well as an all rounder. Everything will just sound fun through them. They will also satisfy his bass head needs as they...- colmustard

Thunderpants vs Hd650, Dt880, K701
I have only owned the 250 ohm version, i probably should have mentioned that. I also never listened to either on anything other than my old e7/e9.- colmustard

Non-sibilant headphones with sub bass, big soundstage and good mids!
Quote: I would say that the denons sound very distant compared to the hd650. What you have to understand is how much the midrange is expressed in the hd650, which can make music sound very close and involving. So it's less of a question of which has a better soundstage and more of...- colmustard

Non-sibilant headphones with sub bass, big soundstage and good mids!
I agree in what the hd650 does for vocals but looking at your demand for really dominant sub bass I can't help but recommend the d2000/d5000 over them. Sibilance is not an issue in my experience.- colmustard

Thunderpants vs Hd650, Dt880, K701
Quote: Clarity I'd argue that the hd650 does better but detail the k701 wins out on. But also you need to think of what that means, it can sound fatiquing and sometimes sibilant. I'd say that the dt880 is a nice medium in that it still sounds very neutral but isn't as piercing as...- colmustard

Denon D2000 vs Ultrasone Pro 900: A Review and Comparison
I don't know, when i upgraded from my fiio set to my desktop amp there was no difference with the 900s and there is a pretty big difference between the two sources.- colmustard

Want fidelity. Giving up the Pro 900...
I'm with Malveaux in that I recently sold my pro 900's for the d5000's. My impressions match his pretty much exactly. Certainly the 900s are much "funner" to listen to, they have a very aggressive in your face type of sound. But the d5000 has the natural tonality that was just flatout missing...- colmustard

Is This Going To Become A Issue ?
Haha yeah im into headphones for a reason, im living In a dorm. My neighbors arn't to fond of my sub. My point though is that just reading head-fi id be under the impression that my setup is subpar and id always have the urge to upgrade. But having heard the truly hifi setups gave me some good...- colmustard

Denon D2000 vs Ultrasone Pro 900: A Review and Comparison
Heya, another Pro900 to D5000 convert here. I've had the D5000's for about a day now and will be sure to post my comparisons here once I've had a little more time with them. But the one thing that I thought was weird right away was although I already prefer the sound signature of the...- colmustard

Is This Going To Become A Issue ?
I don't know, I disagree with the sentiment that you will never be satisfied with your setup. I started off a year ago with a pair of hd595s and a fiio e7/e9. Since then I've spent roughly $1500 on what most would call a mid-range setup, but I've heard other peoples $2000+ setups and flagships...- colmustard

Ultrasone Pro 900 Impressions Thread
Well folk's it's been good. I just took my 900s off after giving them a final listen, I'll be shipping these bad boys out early tommorow morning. I'll be receiving my D5000's sometime in the next few days. Stay classy, unsubscribed.- colmustard

Ultrasone Pro 2900 Thread
Quote: The only actual difference between the two headphones is that the 2900s have holes in them. Same drivers, same positioning. They do sound better in my opinion as open headphones always sound better to me. But to say that they are night and day is ridiculous. Maybe I...- colmustard

Beat Headphones for PC Gaming and Rap/Drum&Bass/Electronica/Dubstep
My vote goes to Denon D2000 or Ultrasone Pro900. The Pro 900's will have a very electronic sound signature with very strong bass and the Denons will sound more natural tonality wise and will have fantastic bass extension and enough quantity to satisfy your needs. In all honesty you'll be more...- colmustard

Ultrasone Pro 2900 Thread
Quote: Agreed, nothing really compares to the k701 soundstage because they just downright shouldn't, it's unnatural. That being said it can make live instrumental music sound incredible. The soundstage for the 2900s from what I heard is just where it should be.- colmustard
