Between the PRO 750 and 900, which presents more detail? (for better or worse)

 And which handles vocals better?

I don't find the PRO 2900 to sound warm or syrupy. If anything, it sounds too harsh and metallic to my ears. The HFI 2200 / 2400 on the other hand are what I'd characterize as warm and syrupy.

I can't really find too much common ground between the PRO 2900 and the Signature Pro, in part because I really dislike the PRO 2900 and haven't listened to it in a while, let alone A/Bed it with the Signature Pro. From memory, the Signature Pro is more accurate and transparent, with better bass quality and texture, more reigned in and controlled, a clearer and more natural sounding midrange, less grain in the treble, and overall much less harsh and fatiguing to my ears.

Basically the Signature Pro is a reference-grade flagship headphone, the most balanced and even-handed that Ultrasone has ever made in my opinion. The Edition 8 has a little more in common with the PRO 900 / 2900 I think, though it's still noticeably different.

I agree the PRO 2900 is definitely more harsh/aggressive than the HFI 2400 (I have them both), I don't find it painfully bright or gratingly harsh for my own tastes though.  I mainly use the 2900 for all day listening at work with a FiiO e17 and the 2400 has become my go-to PC headphones/gaming headset (with an Antlion ModMic) hooked up to a FiiO e7/e9.  Gaming is the only time I ever found the 2900's highs to be too much for me whereas the 2400 is just right.

I'm just going to stop here and say...

after having my Ultrason Signature Pro's for a few months now... I'm LOVING them, I think they far outperform the Grado GS-1000's I had prior, I still can't believe I'm getting quality like this from closed cans!

:)

Great to see this thread is still alive after almost a year since I started it.  Been away for like 6 months and still own my twelve pairs and not parting with any of them.  Good times!!!

Thanks for the reply HeatFan12. I bought the PRO 750's but didnt really like them. I listen to a lot of female vocalists and the cans just didnt do any of them justice. I exchanged them for the HFI-580 and I'm very pleased with these

HFI 580 is probably the best value headphone in the $200 range which can best headphones at higher prices.

how do hfi 580 compare with pro 550?

Well, the HFI-580 definitely got all the popularity and they are a solid set of phones.  The PRO550s sort of got left behind, so to speak.  Once the PRO750s came out, the 550s and 650s (more so) were in the wind.  I enjoy them all and do believe each Ultrasone (no matter what model) brings something different to the table.  How different will vary due to personal preference.

Cheers!
