I used to own the 8 EX and still have the 15.
The 8 EX has a deeper and more punchier bass in comparison but the 15 is more balanced and smoother so it really depends on what you are looking for.
I am not a basshead so the 8 EX bass was a little bit too much for my taste but they are a fun headphones.

Thanks for your reply. If not a trouble, would you be kind enough to answer also the following questions.

1) I wonder if there is any sibilance and how forgiving it is to low quality recordings?
2) Burn in period
3) Cable swap (any recommendations)
4) Best songs you may imply to suit these headphones
5) Source dependent / independent? (any suggestions from your side)
6) Comparable sound signature headphones

Sorry for the trouble!

Hello,
I will try to answer your questions. Please take in consideration this is for the Edition 15 with custom cable (MIT Reference).

1) I am very sensitive to high frequencies and I have not noticed any harshness on these and they are not very forgiving of bad recordings. They show you what is in the recording.

2) Amy experience with Ultrasone headphones is that they need a long burn in period of about 400 hours and they do go through noticeable changes through it.

3) I really like them with the MIT and also the Dana Cables Lazuli Reference. Another good one at a better price is the Moon Audio Black Dragon or the Silver Dragon if you want a little more spark at the top.

4) The Edition 15 are a very good all rounders. I mostly listen to classic rock from the 70s.

5) I use then directly out of the Bricasti M3h and sound great. The better the source the better they will sound. They also sound great out of my Kann Max.

6) I am not sure about this. I think they are in line with the Meze Lyric but a tad more neutral.

I've been paying WAY too much attention to my IEMs of late, so I'm now listening to my Signature DJ for the first time in a while and I remember how much I adore these things.

Ultrasone Edition 11.
Or Edition 8 (EX version is not necessary).
Or Edition 15.

I have Edition Eleven, and they are definitely an upgrade over Signature Pro.
I always thought that the Ed8 was a great portable headphone. One of the best-looking and form-fitting (at least for my head) and it looked modern but not overly so (I have the Limited Edition with the wood trim). But does anyone know where I can get replacement pads for them?

You can order them directly from Ultrasone via their website.

I gave my Hfi-780 some new life with red Brainwavz Oval pads. My stock pads were in horrible shape. Comfort is still the same. The headband (or the nuggets at least) are uncomfortable at least.

Anyone know where I can find more comfy nuggets that will fit? I thought about removing those nuggets and trying to buy some memory foam to line the inside of the headband.

Has anyone done similar?

Just picked up a pair of the Edition Eleven. I have tried/owned the Proline 750, Proline 2500, Pro 750, Pro 2500, HFI-780, HFI-2400, PRO 780i, PRO 900, PRO 2900 and PRO 2900i. Have not heard any of the Signature line. These Elevens are my favorite Ultrasones so far.

Glad you like them. I used to own the Edition 9 and lived the sound signature but unfortunately the cup size was kind of in between over the ear and around the ear so they were uncomfortable for long listening sessions and end up selling them because of that.

Now I own the Edition 15 and love them too. If I find a nice pair of Edition 25 Jubilee I would buy them in a heartbeat.

Hey Patrick - those Ed11's, with bio-cellulose drivers & a unique housing, seem to be completely different than any of the prior Proline/Pro/Edition lines:

Never had an opportunity to see or hear them. Glad you are enjoying.
