I've pretty much stopped using my PRO550 lately, it's simply too neutral for my tastes. Looks like I'll need to upgrade to something with a lot more bass, some kind of IEM or the PRO900. Although IEMs are something I'm serious considering. Maybe I'll check out the new signature series before deciding, they do look promising

Neutral?  What are you driving them with?  They are 64ohm and don't come out to play until they are properly driven.

I'm currently ampless but I think I'll try your suggestion and get amp to see if theres any improvements

Oh, you gotta give them some love Parall3l.  Even a portable amp would suffice.  Listening to the "Sones unamped, is like listening to an IEM that is not properly fitted (sealed)...The PRO550s & 650s (75ohm) like to have some juice to get them going.  The only 'Sone I have listened to that can get away without an amp is the HFI-580.  With an amp they shine...

Cheers!!!

Just pick up a used Fiio E11 - It'll show you how much you gain from amping them!

And then, when you're hooked, you can follow the rest of us down the slippery slope...

Is it just me or do all ultrasone's that are fresh out of the box give hearing fatigue?

Listened to my friends brand new Pro 900's and I was getting hearing fatigue after an hour.

my 900s had this problem and kept this problem after about 50 hours of burn in so I sent them back... just ordered the 2900s to give them a try (and more burn in)... I hear they are less fatiguing.

probably needed more time... do you leave them running when you aren't using them? or sleeping to avoid the fatigue and speed it up?   Congrats on the 2900's!!!!!! Theyll probably need a long break-in too. Have about 150 hrs on the 2500's and they changed for the better. Enjoy the open goodness
