If it isn't the cable connection, I'd say wait until Ultrasone returns from holiday and see what they have to say.

Oh okay. I just hope warranty covers this, as I have never gone into the headphones.

Looking into getting a pair of the Pro 900's for my at home setup. Mostly listen to a lot of EDM music and some trance. Just curious if there are some others out there that can vouch for this headphone being solid for this genre or offer some insight on a different headphone.

I don't know the PRO900 but I really like the PRO2900 with the genres you've described - they're generally my preference out of my collection for electronica, and I'd have no issues suggesting them to others. My understanding is the 900 are equally competent for that genre, but I've never tried them.

Good one xD I know they are hardly near to neutral, they have their weird peaks, but I'm interested in trying anything to tame the treble and bass

I think it's kind of a take it or leave it thing. You can EQ the bass down, and even EQ the treble down, but you won't change the resonance or how S-LOGIC works, which is what makes them sound so funky more or less. If that makes sense.

No I really have no idea either and just noticed that when you pointed it out. Isn't one of them able to be a DtoA though? (I know next to nothing about FiiO products).

It makes one HUGE difference. The music on my J3 sounds crappy alone. The Fiio E11+Fiio E6 makes the soundstage HUGE, the detail exceptional for its' price range and the bass dives even deeper towards the 10 Hz level. The treble can reach its' full potential, in terms of peaking, yet it's still tamed. I pretty much brought out the HFI-450's potential with this setup, but all that remains is using the EQ. I'm still trying to get the right signature for the various genres of music I listen to.
