The Fiio X5 Thread

I've heard that the X5 has trouble above 128GB of storage but I can't confirm that since I'm on fw 2.7.

Very interested if this is true, as I was on the fence to order a 200GB card (that just went down in price) for the X5

Atm 2x 128GB work without a problem...

I was under the impression the original X5 was the only one that could do OTG storage.

I'm asking, does it really have "trouble" over 128GB if the files are split into folders and are browsed exclusively that way?

I use 200GB microsd cards in both my first gen X5 and X3 with no problems.
I am kind of sad I have 128GB cards that I have no use for.

For you original X5 owners who want to use FW2.7 I updated all my themes. Be aware that OTG storage functionality does not work with 2.7, as mentioned earlier.

The download link can be found in the custom themes thread here:

By the way, the X5ii thread is here for those that do not know:

I just noticed a high frequency hum out of the HO jack when paused or in quiet low volume passages.  Because I usually pair the X5 with a Cayin C5 amp I never noticed this problem before.  Fortunately the LO works well and the sound is nice and black while paused.  Has anyone else experienced this problem with the HO jack?

Hi
Anyone with Chord Mojo & Fiio X5 (1st Gen) here would like to know your experience with this combo.
The itch of buying a quality DAC/HP AMP has bitten me big time.
any suggetions are most welcome and appericiated.

Well, if you like the sound of the Mojo, and you like the controls of the X5 then you'll really enjoy the combination.

The Mojo is the much more capable DAC and is also much more powerful than the X5 and can drive a wider range of headphones, yet due to it's implementation of the analogue out can also drive sensitive IEMs as well. You can't go wrong with two mSD card slots on the X5 and a Mojo driving the sound.

Dear All,

Recently, we received some feedback about the X5 1st gen, which can not be recognized by the computer, no matter running on the Storage or DAC mode.
Here is a new firmware FW2.7 for the X5 1st with help solve this issue: click here.  To be honest, the OTG function is canceled on FW1.7 compared to FW2.6, in order to fix the problem of X5's not being recognized by the computer.
We know well that most end users prefer to keep the OTG function. Therefore, at first we don't plan to release it to public. But in consideration of that it may be helpful for the certain X5 users in some ways.

Anyway, the FW2.7 for the X5 is alternative

, and if you don't mind using the X5 without the OTG function, you could try to update it when having the failed connection between the X5 and computer.
If there is any feedback about this firmware, pls share with us.
