The Fiio X5 Thread

Hi
Anyone with Chord Mojo & Fiio X5 (1st Gen) here would like to know your experience with this combo.
The itch of buying a quality DAC/HP AMP has bitten me big time.
any suggetions are most welcome and appericiated.

I use this combo all the time and it works very well. The cable required for the first gen X5 to the Mojo is very simple and very reliable, unlike the cable from my cellphone to Mojo. The X5 can use two 200 GB cards so storage is great. The X5 second gen requires a different cable that I have not experienced so one is not the same as the other.

The Mojo sounds great, a nice upgrade to the already fine X5. (But then so does the X3)

Not sure exactly where to post this, but am doing so here because I own an X5.  I recently downloaded a high quality album that said it was a FLAC album, but when I open the folder on my computer (MBP retina) to view the files, there's an artwork ".jpg" file, a single ".cue" file, a single ".log" file, and a single ".flac" file - which appears to be the entire CD (just over 43 minutes) altogether in one file.

Upon transferring to the X5, when I view the album there - I am able to see all the individual tracks, but they show up as ".WAVE" files on the X5.  Playback on the X5 doesn't really present any audio issues, but I did notice the song track names do not change when the songs change - it seems to be stuck on a single track name.

I have also tried opening the folder using XLD to see if I could view the individual tracks, and perhaps edit/transcode the folder/disc to fix any problems.  However, the individual tracks also do NOT show when opening in XLD.

Is there a way for me to remedy this problem, so that I am able to actually view all the individual tracks and perhaps have them encoded to all display as ".flac" files?

I've attached a couple of screenshots below, in order as:

1. Opened folder view in Mac OS finder.
2. View in XLD
3. View as it shows in the X5

One option is to use audio editing software like Audacity to break up the single file into individual tracks. Then you can name and tag them however you like.

I did this just yesterday in fact. It can be a pain, but the result is a perfectly formatted album.

You have XLD. XLD itself supports splitting the flac files and re-encoding the resultant files again as lossless flacs. It would be a lot faster than doing it manually in Audacity.

I don't have a Mac so haven't seen how to do it in the graphical user interface, but here's instructions to split using the command line:

Hi

I have recently bought a Chord MOJO. I have been struggling to get it working with my Gen I x5.
I have the 3.5 to coax adapter that came with the x5. What are the other cables, connectors or adapters required. Will really appreciate some help.
Some pictures or links will be especially nice.
Thanks.

Honestly, you can just use a normal interconnect cable.  I've used my X5 as a transport for the Mojo with https://www.jdslabs.com/products/146/ultra-short-3-5mm-interconnect-cable/

I strongly recomand you this coaxial cable from image to connect X5 and MOJO.
