I am finally a very happy X5 owner.

I am having issue with the eq not working until I go to the custom and touch a slider and it drops a few db like it should. If I don't go to that screen and touch a slider it plays like eq is not on?

I do bass tests so I'm listening and watching and it goes back to custom flat and doesn't save my eq. It saves it visually but it doesn't kick in unless i touch it . This is kinda a bug report I guess? I can put up with it but if anyone reports a custom eq not behaving I can 2nd that.

Do you mean to say that this happens whenever you turn on the player--the EQ preset doesn't kick in on startup until you modify it?

I paid 4 times what i would for an apple device and have/had issues with simple endeavors.
Firmware upgrades are a symptom of incomplete ideas or poor implementation of ideas.
The 90 degree rotate was done by re-themers and FiiO's own poll showed it to be popular....yet at 2.4 i gotta wait for a re-themer to update their mod
I have sold by rec more e12 devices than anyone on this site period. 100's. It's a solid item. I'm happy to rec it. I like the FiiO brand.
The X5 needs work. I am not moving on. I expect better. Company dealing with the public...deal with em.

Anyone with ANY issues report them and put it on FiiO to do or not do what should be their job. That will reflect on them either way.  The X7 is in development...The X5 is on my desk and paid for and it has issues like others. Deal with it FiiO.
This thread is for just that.

I respect you opinion Relic but I have a different one. I don't do a 1 star review or bash the item or troll. I just want it to be better. That's not unreasonable.

Your feedback may get noticed more if you pm me directly or email support@fiio.net instead of putting it in the public thread hoping James or I come across it. Just sayin'. We do read some of these threads when we have time but it is quite a chore picking out real issues from the talk of the "chat around the water cooler" variety (much as I love to chat)...

PM the creator of this site and or Curry who is now an admin and ask them if I was told after suggesting in the Z7 thread that the owners create an appreciation thread that they (Head-Fi) much preferred the term discussion in the thread title.
 
I'm not gonna ask to be told something twice. You think it didn't happen once. PM them. Link to this thread and the first point I mentioned it at. I'm not your mother. If you cry liar put in the effort to back it up.
 
This could have all been PM'd btw. One word posts...always best in PM so everybody does not have to read a person not getting something and wanting clarification about general rules and not item specific like the item in this thread. Use the tools at your disposal.

If I go through songs musical note icon from the start it seems to not be an issue if I go through folders it sometimes does not appear that the eq is in effect until I touch a slider. I did a video in here that shows the very audible difference in the sliders being-6 and non eq.
 
I was "A""B" testing with a Cowon and pulling plugs in and out of the LO in the timeframe so it may be on me. I'll PM you if the problem happens again and I can nail exactly what steps I take prior to it occuring.

FYI, the EQ doesn't work with audio of sample rate above 48kHz. So if run across songs that do not respond to EQ at all in your testing, that may be the reason why.

"Play by category" -> "all songs"

Start a track, then press top left button, and scroll to the "crossing arrows", press middle button, and you're shuffling!

This has actually been possible since the first firmware, i believe...

Just a reminder that there are some great custom X5 themes over HERE.
 
There's been a lot of activity recently with several new themes and old favorites getting updated for FW2.4.
 
There are blinged-out themes, classy themes, high-contrast themes, modern themes, simple themes.
 
Simply put there's bound to be a theme for you, and it's as easy to install as a regular FW update!

I bought these for my X5 a few months ago and it works great, especially when I am traveling:

I got mine at Radio Shack for $25. You get 2 of them in a pack, so it's actually not a bad deal. My be a good alternative to DIY.

With the new lockscreen on the latest firmware I have the skip forward and skip backward buttons turned off, leaving only play/pause and volume active. I can press the controls through the material without having to worry about pressure skipping tracks on me. I only remove it when changing folders for playback.

Have fun.

So i went and bought that at my local radioshack. They only had the medium size. I'm actually happy I didn't get the large because i can feel the buttons better through the tighter fitting medium pouch.

I am going to attach a velcro strap to one of them so i can wear it over my coat and sweaters.
